How long can I be without service?

A couple of weeks ago the Vodafone signal in my house stopped. Can't make or receive calls. Vodafone said there have been multiple faults, issued a new SIM (with someone else's number) but still nothing. Phone works fine everywhere else.

They said they would compensate me for the whole time I had no signal, but I can't be without a phone indefinitely. Is there a maximum time they have to fix it? I only have three months left on contract and just want to change to someone else.

If the problem is in your house only i.e. the phone works ok elsewhere and they are being slow to fix it you could ask them for a sure signal to sort this out in the meantime.
  • Thanks, I'll do that.

Not much help to you OP, but had an issue with VF last year, the local transmitter went 'down' every time we had heavy rain!! Yes I know, you couldn't make it up, but this is VF we're talking about!!

Customer services is a waste of time and space, the troubleshooting section of their website is always several days behind so the local customers know more about the problem than VF themselves!

It took VF months to sort the problem completely and properly; it would supposedly be sorted, then the next week it would be off again for several days.

Sadly, considering the UK is their home market, they're more interested in doing £billion deals in various parts of the world rather than providing their home market with a decent service. They're supposedly providing a 4G service in a few odd parts of the UK, yet other well-populated parts are barely getting 2G. And 3G? Don't make me laugh!!

As soon as I can decide between Virgin/EE or 3, I'll be off.
    David.

Well, 77% of the emergency services use them (they say). I thought they used Airwave as the primary communications tool. Still, I'm a firm believer in if you don't get what you expect, vote with your wallet!
  • Well, I got it resolved, but Vodafone are morons. Allow me to explain.

I told them I wanted a Sure Signal and they said it would cost me £50. The half price discount (normal price £100) was due to not having any service for three weeks. I told them I wouldn't pay anything, and wanted a PAC.

They said they could give me the PAC but I would have to pay off the rest of my contract. I told them I would invoice them for the remaining two months and if they didn't pay take them to Small Claims Court.

At that point they agreed to give me a Sure Signal for free. It's madness because I only have two months left, for which I will pay them about £70. The Sure Signal sells for £100 so probably costs them that much. And when I leave and go to 3 the Sure Signal is mine, and goes on eBay for about £75. Oh, and they owe me about £30 for the service I have already lost.

Anyway, at least I can use my phone now.

Have they acknowledged that? Or is that simply your opinion? AFAIK there is no right to service included in mobile contracts, annoying though that may be.

im not sure the signal box is automatically yours to sell or would even work after
    What goes around-comes around
  • They have credited me £27 for not having service for three weeks. The signal box is mine, and sells on eBay for about £75.
