BT broadband upgrade Cancellation?

Hi,
living in a rural location we've previously stuck with BT for our broadband & phone. However, the last couple of months we've gone over our usage limit so this morning I looked at upgrading to unlimited package which I signed up to.
Stupidly I didn't really think of looking else where. However, this evening I realised I can probably get a better deal on the phone and unlimited broadband (no chance of high speed fibre yet, as I say it's rural location). Problem is the email confirming the new BT service (scheduled to start on the 23rd) says:
"A note about cancelling
Your new service has already started. You can no longer cancel this agreement."
So am I stuck with BT again for 12 months? Or is this wrong, do I have a "cooling off" period where I can cancel this and go with someone else?
thanks
Andy

Looks like you are commited, who else were you thinking of moving to, have you checked for LLU at your exchange, or there is Plusnet. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

did a quick check on broadbandchoices and could get a better price from the post office and plusnet for unlimited broadband + phone.
As a rural exchange we have poor speeds, low demand for fibre and are generally stuck with BT though happy to go with the post office even if it is only a few quid a month cheaper (every penny counts!).0 -
You are not (or were not) 'stuck with BT'. If no LLU then there are still dozens of BT resellers available to you-such as Plusnet
There is no cooling off period on an upgrade. The service has commenced and you are now in a new minimum term.
The moral is to do your research before you commit to a new deal.
NB: if the PO is cheaper then that suggests that you have at least one LLU options, as the PO resell TalkTalk. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
