  • The £7.99 blades I bought from motor factor in April are already starting to fail. Passenger side one has split on the end.

So obviously not better quality than cheaper blades.
  • Bosch wipers.

If you want to check quality of a blade ask the motor factor guy to open the box on both the cheapest and the dearest ones he has, only then will you notice why the cheap are cheap and dear blades are dear, 1.mounting clips are made better 2.They don't rust up like cheapo's because they are powder coated and made of aluminium or powder coated sealed metal.3 the quality of rubber they are made from, you will feel and see the difference, plus hear it as they DONT clunk on every swipe or squeak or the plastic clips break off and fling it off the car, 4.the weight of metal they are made form is important, last thing you want is it lifting off the screen at 50MPH in a heavy down poor!
5.mid range ones is a compromise of quality and longevity and I tend to aim for those.

I bought a set of valeo ones for my father pug 307 when he got it (because the original cheapo ones were squeeking that the garage put on when he bought it as it was MOT failure on the OEM ones when they put new MOT on it) they were still good 5 years later when he got shot of it.

I used to work in a motor factors, trust me the amount of people coming saying "I bought a set form wilko's or other cheapy noname makes 5 months ago and now they have failed MOT" due to them splitting after a cold winter would surprise you we got 5 customers plus a day complaining of them!.

Yes but I'm saying the blades I got at the factors have failed after 5 months.

I think they only sold one brand as they had them all up on wall behind counter. I just asked for size and that was what I was handed and charged £7.99 each for.
  • £7.99 a blade, bargain! £18 a blade for my car. And yes last winter I bought some 'cheap' blades (at £11.99 per blade), they already need changing. Will be sticking with Bosch from now on, I know they'll last a few years.

In most cases you get what you pay for. Our local motor factors are, in most cases, cheaper than GSF, Euro Car Parts etc. I wouldn't generally buy car parts from somewhere like Wilko, goodness only knows what quality you'd be getting.
