Does the date on the electoral roll matter?

Hello,

My dad who owns his house, is on the electoral roll but it's dated 2002. He wanted to apply for a basic bank account for general spending as he's got no use for overdraft and ect.

Now he was declined due to them being unable to verifiy him digitally so they've asked him to apply in branch. Just to test it out, I also applied for the same account and was accepted and they sent me a pin and debit card. Now I've only been on the electoral roll since 2010, does the year of being registered on the electoral roll have any effect? Now his financial are in total order, but there is no credit rating against financials just to verify your identity.

Many thanks

Is he still on the Electoral Roll ? There's usually a date when you appear and another date if you remove yourself. If he's not on the current register it might affect him.

Well, it only lists 2002. I've checked a few relatives and they sometimes have 2004-2006 for example.

If it says 2002 to current, then he is. He must know whether he's on it or not, surely ?

Could be some other reason for them asking for verification

I just thought records that lists for example 2002-2013 that they've got records of them occupying the address for that period of time.

Because my older siblings who lived here do not have that more than one year of occupying the address according to the electoral roll. But I really do not them them denying any other reason due to me being accepted for the same account, and he is in much better financial shape than me.

Sorry for misunderstanding. But the only record of him being on the electoral roll is 2002, not like 2002-2013.

Why hasn't he been on it since then ?

I've no clue, he's had no use for it until this point. I assumed it was automatic, they would assume you're at this address because you haven't appeared anywhere else.

Is there an x amount of years until you need to have it updated? I haven't been able to find any information on that subject.

I'm sure you receive a reminder every year to re register. I had someone knock at my door last year as i hadn't sent mine back. You can be fined i think if you don't return it.
