Given those two choices i would go for the Ibiza.

Also consider the new entry level cars I think they are the Skoda Rapid and Seat Toledo.

    They seem good value.

And there may be a good deal on an ex deml vehicle.

Or indeed on Drive the Deal or similar.

Skoda for me having hired a Seat Leon it was terrible with poor quality plastic interior.

They must have taken a step back with quality on later Leons.

As the Mk1 Leon had the same dashboard as the mk2 Toledo and it was lifted directly out of an Audi A3.

Never understand how they can reduce quality when bringing out newer models.

Both are VW products and based on the Polo underpinnings. I would test drive them both to see which you prefer but they will probably be very similar. On styling alone, I would go for the Seat.

VW may be worth looking at too, may not be that much in it on 'ex-demo' or eanlr new used type cars

I drive a Skoda Fabia for work and it's a nice drive, not bad on fuel and comfy for long distance (I regularly drive 4+ hours at a time).

The one thing that stops me buying one is the fact that it's had 2 new gear boxes in 3 years. The first being replaced in under 5000 miles.

  • I'm on my 2nd Fabia - this time I went for a new Monte Carlo 1.6 tdi with 105bhp. Fantastic car in my opinion, nice to drive, not too big and very comfy. You said that you're not bothered for looks but I think the Monte Carlo also looks pretty good.

I also bought last year when they were doing vat free deals with 3yrs servicing if you took a bit of finance (now paid off), oh and it's £20 to tax for the year. Happy Skoda customer here!

I am very happy with my Skoda Fabia. Only problem is a tendency for the windows to steam up on cold nights (I park it outside).

No aircon? You've let condensation get in to the car that isnt being extracted during the day.
  • Are they not the exact same car, with a different bodyshell?
