Skoda or Seat?
I'm looking to buy a new (ex demo) or minimal miles Skoda Fabia or Seat Ibiza. Having looked around the net cannot find anything much to separate them but wondering of throughts of people on here who may have experience of one or both. Also, do they have the same autobox? Am sorting some test drives but want to be best informed beforehand.
Thanks.
Thanks.

There are some cracking deals on new Seat Ibizas at the moment, so be careful what you pay for an ex Demo
My dad bought a new Ibiza SC 1.4 Toca with nav, bluetooth, alloys, etc for £9995 OTR. Another dealer was doing them for £10,495 but with 5 years interest free finance, should you have needed it.
The likes of Broadspeed.com are offering even better discounts.

Personally, i'd have the Ibiza over the Fabia - not too keen on the Fabias looks.0 -
I can remember the time when anyone that said they were going to buy a Skoda had people rolling in the aisles with laughter.
Now i'd buy one.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

The very latest Leon is supposed to be much improved in terms of interior plastics (which wouldnt be hard).0 -

Having had this exact dilemma a month ago (albeit slightly older - I was looking at 2-3 year old cars) I came to the conclusion that I'd go for either. Test drove both, liked both. The auto box was identical in both, I believe. There were a few slight differences with trim levels too I believe, but they are roughly the same. I slightly prefer the looks of the SEAT, but I didn't care that much. I ended up looking at both, and I found one that felt right, was a good price, local etc. It ended up being the Ibiza, but if it was the Fabia it wouldn't have changed my decision at all.
As said above, look at internet broker sites, you might be able to get a good deal on a new instead of pre-reg. I think I read that the Fabia had a bigger boot, but I didn't notice it tbh.
Which model are you looking at? I've got an Ibiza 1.2 TSi DSG SE ST.

Get some recommendations on the dealers - I wouldn't rush to have a seat again after the local dealer (service) experience - worst in a very long time.0

Both are VW products and based on the Polo underpinnings. I would test drive them both to see which you prefer but they will probably be very similar. On styling alone, I would go for the Seat.0

Thanks for replies.
I've never bought a car on looks and don't plan to start, so that is irrelevant.
Yes, the new Fabia should be out but I think not for quite some months, and on proper release 2015 I think, will keep an eye on prices though.
Unlikely I will buy online, so local dealership is probably where I'd buy which may influence things - live in the sticks a bit so Skoda dealer 10 miles away, Seat 50 miles.
Am organising a test drive on the 1.2 manual and the DSG to see what I think.
