Holiday Accommodation Question

Hello, I'm really new to this and not even sure if I'm in the right place. But I'm hoping someone might be able to help me. I'm really worrying about the fact that I've booked to go on a Sun £9.50 holiday in May. We are going to Hafan y Mor in Wales and after reading some of the reviews on tripadvisor and the like I'm concerned incase the accommodation is poor
Although as a Sun £9.50 holiday I wouldn't expect the Ritz, but as anyone who themselves have booked a £9.50 holiday it doesn't actually cost £9.50! I've spent about £130 on it so far and in my mind that makes it no longer a 'bargain'...
Any tips/experiences about how to deal with this or to actually find out what I might get in advance?
Really appreciate any guidance.
Thanks Jane

Well all I'd say is it looks a damn site better than the Pontins Prestatyn one we just did - have a look at the TripAdvisor reviews for there and I don't think you've anything to worry about in comparison0

Thanks
I've first hand experience of 'Pontins' accommodation.... That's what's worrying me
Did you do anything about it or did you just put up with it?

What specifically do the reviews that you have read on TA say to worry you?
Reviews are subjective and what one person finds totally unacceptable i.e. no 24 hour room service in a 2 star hotel , another person won't see as an issue.0 -
Well it's actually the photos I've seen. Derelict rusty steps, dirty mattresses and broken/rotting window frames and damp in the apartments....

What you have to remember is that the people who have a bad caravan (mould, stains, etc) will take photos and upload them to TripAdvisor. The people who have an acceptable caravan, won't do so. Then think how many people must stay at that Haven site each week, let alone each year, compared to the number of bad reviews and photos ...
A holiday is what you make it. It won't be pristine - caravans/chalets never are. But will a small amount of mould on the shower sealant kill you? No. Go with realistic expectations
As for the cost - yes, you can find that by the time you've paid for a minimum 4 people with electricity and entertainment passes, the cost rises to close to how much you could have paid for booking direct. Some deals are good, some not so good.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls
MSE: many of the benefits of a helpful family, without disadvantages like having to compete for the tv remote

Given we'd only paid £9.50 and had plenty to do in the local area we put up with it. The queue for complaints was longer than the queue for the bar which should maybe have told us what to expect when we checked in lol0 -
Are they new photos?
Are the negative photos all posted by the same person?
If so, it could mean that they were unhappy about one aspect of their accommodation and went looking for "Derelict rusty steps, dirty mattresses and broken/rotting window frames and damp in the apartments....
".
What do the latest reviews say?
Is it Hafan Y Mor holiday Park?
If it is, the recent reviews seem pretty good, apart from one person why appeared to take a dislike to some of the staff but said the caravan was 'lovely'.
As I said, reviews are subjective.0 -
I tend to avoid uk sites like Haven etc as they tend to be chav magnets. There's a reason why these holidays are promoted by papers like the sun."fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)0

Or maybe they tend to be booked by people who want to get away and can't afford 5 star luxury abroad.
Doesn't necessarily mean they are 'chavs'.
Judgemental much?0 -

I am also one who cannot do five star abroad but generally find holidays at these resorts are ruined by chavs running amok. That's why I now avoid these types of sites."fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)0
