What do you do for Easter?

In the country where I was raised we always had a big lunch at the Grandparents or Uncle/Auntie's house. Big gathering lots of kids running about on mad chocolate sugar highs... playing cricket in the back garden, chatting to extended family members, massive lunch etc..

Now I live in Scotland it's not that big of an event. I'm sure it's down to family tradition, however, I do miss the old days....

What do you do, if anything, for Easter Sunday?

We go to church! This year, for the first time ever, we went to the dawn service. We set the alarm for 4.30 am, were out of the house just as the street lights were coming back on at 5 am and the blackbirds were starting to tune up for the dawn chorus. Our service was at 5.30 am. Remembering the story, the women who went to the tomb before first light....it was tremendously moving and well worth the effort of getting up early. Our church is very historic, at least 1100 years old. You get a tremendous feeling in there.

Coming home for a special breakfast, what we have on special days like Christmas: smoked salmon and scrambled eggs.

That's what we do for Easter.

First Easter off in years and I have the whole family here for the weekend

We are a mixed bunch so religion doesn't raise it's head.

For once the sun is shining and it's a pretty warm day so once the frost has gone off the lawn the kiddies, and the adult kiddies are being banished to the garden to burn off some energy whilst I create a mess in the kitchen doing the turkey and ham dinner

Then Easter eggs and ill crash for an hour with the baby and the boys take the go kart up the lane

Hopefully an Easter tradition in the making :)

We do a easter hunt for eggs outdoors/indoors.
Then off to my parents for a lamb roast.

We`ve done the same every year.

Nothing at all as I'm not Christian and don't observe Easter.
I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

You could observe the pre-Christian festival for Eostre, the goddess of spring. Her totem animal is the hare, the origin of the 'Easter Bunny'.

Nothing religious or chocolatey - I'm just pleased to have 4 days off work :) Stepson is here so will do a roast dinner later.

    Me neither.

Shops are shut and there are no buses, so not many options. I'll cook a roast chicken later and it's a good excuse to eat a Lindt chocolate bunny.

I'd go for a walk or bike ride, but it's howling a gale and looks like rain.

Nothing. We're staying with the least organised relatives in the world (had to shop for basics like bread and milk myself and had to make our own beds!). There's no proper food in, no shops open so lunch should be fun!

Am mystified by the hordes of people on FB who seem to have gone utterly berserk buying 10+ eggs per child and piling them all up for th to find with cards and other presents this morning! !!!!!! is that about?!

Love the sound of pretty much all of it. Chirping birds, roasts with family members, walks and of course excuse to eat Lindt bunny! The church story reminded me of midnight mass we used to attend eons ago growing up. The amazing weather we're experiencing three days in a row here remind me so much of Easter in Oz all those years ago...

Whatever you do, or don't do... hope you all enjoy.
