At quite a lot of spots actually. Real pain in the bum.

I'm on orange using an iPhone 4S.

Yet my partners signal is near perfect in the same house all over - she's on orange also but has a blackberry.

Please can somebody more knowledgeable than myself explai how this can be ? And more importantly is there a way of fixing it?

Her phone must have a better aerial. You can either buy a better phone, try another network or ask Orange for a signal booster if they do them

Is the 'near perfect' signal 3g?
Is it possible that the BB has 2g allowed while your 4s doesn't?

    Erm...

    My phone has 3G.
Her phone is really slow so I don't think she has it...

    A 2G signal is stronger than 3G.

If it is an older BlackBerry then it is probably 2G only. Try forcing 2G on your iPhone.

How do I do that? Can 2g and 3G run simultaneously?

If both are enabled a phone sticks to 3g even if the signal is weak, yet still available. AFAIK in iPhone you have to switch 3g off to force it to 2g only.
