BT free evening & weekend calls £7.99

Hi guys,
Just had a call from BT offering me free weekend and evening calls + 25% of mobile calls for £7.99 a Month they also said the first 3 Months are free. I am currently with Primus and am unsure if to switch or not !!!! the offer does sound good but I am sure there must be a catch!!!!!

Anyone else looked into this offer?

Thanks

Paul

Hi I work for BT. The offer is on opt 3 which is normally £7.95 a month on top of your £11 a month line rental (or £10.50 a month if paying dd and online billing). Option 3 is you get free uk landline calls anytime upto 1 hr per call and 25% off mobile calls and 200 text messages a month free. The offer is take opt 3 on a 12 month contract and for 3 months you get it free (via a bill credit of £7.95 x 3).

If you have Primus Saver 2 (Free Evening and Weekend Calls) your be better off using it in conjunction with www.18185.co.uk for your peak geographical, mobile, ngn, and intl calls unless you make lots of peak calls each week.Plus you dont pay for it when your not using it. EG On Holiday. Where as you do if you pay a monthly charge.

    Beware Geeks baring gifts.

Or should that be Greeks. :)

Did they mention you would be in a new contract term ? It seems to me they are trying everything to trap people into new contracts.

I had a call from bt trying to get me into a contract term with this deal. They may have dropped the line rental but calls that are charged have a min charge of 6p up from 3p. calling a Mobile phone will be higher as the weekend charge is being dropped for just days & eves.
It seems their price restructuring is like the budget. Give with one hand and take with the other, though I'm sure it has been worked out that BT will generally get more added value for each subscriber

I also received a mail shot about the above offer - anytime plan just £7.95 a month (option 3 I believe) and with online billing at £10:50 a month.

or if you sign up for opt1 or 2 for 12 months you get the CallMobile option free.

At present I use Ontel for calls (free for evening and weekends) and BT for rental (plus I also get free calls to my choosen Mobile handsets under one of the Onetel free plans). This is costing me about about £9 calls and £11 rental so I believe this may be good for me to switch back to BT (unless there is some missing caveat I have missed). Although I will be loosing the free calls to our mobiles. So I am unsure if it worth me switching for example last year the monthly bill was only £3 a month so if we drop our daytime calls where Ontel still remains the best offer. Any advice? (btw I dont wish to switch to the TalkTalk plans as I dont belive they are as good as the Onetel plan Im on though they keep trying to sell them to me.)

Incidentally, I noticed that the call setup charges are also being applied by Onetel (about the same cost as BT)

......and should "baring" actually be "bearing"?
  • Steve_xx,
I think Geeks baring their gifts is almost more worrying... :rotfl:

If you do make a lot of peak calls a day and your not on Sky where you can get 24/7 inclusive 01/02 calls for £5 a month, the BT package is worth considering for a year as it averages out at approx £6 a month for the first 12 months, because first 3 months are free.
