Do you need a new Sim for 4G

Hi Guys
Just a quick question i am with 3 on a Sim only contract i just bought a 4G phone

Do i need a new Sim for the 4G to work? or will my normal Sim work Ok .

    Hi, it should work ok as long as they have 4G in your area.

    You probably wouldn't notice a great difference, I get up to 22meg on 3 with a 3G phone.
  • I'm inclined to say yes. I know from experience that O2 issues new 4G sim cards with any upgrades and such.
  • Take the sim out of the phone and look if it says 4g anywhere on it and you will have your answer as sims usually say either 3g or 4g somewhere on them in small print.

    No, on Three there is no need.

    All subscribers are able to use 4G if they have coverage and a 4G phone.
    Take the sim out of the phone and look if it says 4g anywhere on it and you will have your answer as sims usually say either 3g or 4g somewhere on them in small print.

    You must be a giffgaff user, that seems to be the process there and the normal comment about 4G on their forum.

    Three don't require a new SIM card.

    Other networks do require a new SIM card.

    I did see the thing about the numbers on the Sim it was O2 help

    I have some O2 Sims and none have 3g or 4g on the back of them
    they are also only a couple of months old.
