Confused BT youview or TalkTalk plus TV

Hi all, just moved to an area where we can't have sky tv boo hoo!! So looking at various options, we had a local guy round who said freeview was only option and as we can only connect to a box (whatever it's called) nearby that does not get all the channels.

So have started looking at BT youview or TalkTalk plus TV and I just can't decide what is best. I do like having the option of the sky channels you get with TT but husband does want BT sports so one of us will have to compromise. But there seems to be a lot of complaints on the TT forums that you can't access TV because of poor broadband connections. So am I likely to get that with BT too, or is the infinity better?

Also, are we going to be able to access all the freeview channels that they say we can or is it likely we will have limited access becuase of where we live?

Why can't you have satellite TV?
Do you have a terrestrial TV aerial?
You don't say what area you are in or the type of accommodation.

because we live near a park and a conservation area and a very long pole with sky dish is not acceptable

there is an aerial but not coming in to house

You mean you are surrounded by trees and cannot get line of site anywhere.
You will need a working aerial for freeview.
You can use the mapping facility on Samknows to get a speed estimate.

i just ran two tests, I am with sky at the moment for BB

uswitch download 7.7mb upload 1mb
broadband speedchecker 8.55 download 1.26mb upoad


BT told me today I can have BT Infinity 48Mb-65Mb

This does not make sense.BT Vision /Talk Talk TV use YouView boxes that are primarily Freeview boxes, so need an aerial.
You will need to get one installed, Hopefully it will be able to see the transmitter through the trees.

Agreed. You need an aerial connection for both Freeview and YouView. But your BB speed is fast enough, btw.

The pole does not have to be attached to the house-you can mount the dish on a pole in the garden if you wish.All you need is a line of sight to the satellite.
You then have the 3 options-Sky sub, Freesat from Sky, or Freesat proper.
You can stream the on-demand features on YouView or Freetime with less than half your indicated line speed.
