Windows 7 upgrade advisor says my old PC is fine as far as an upgrade goes.0

I'd keep XP too... BUT Windows7 Home Premium is typically £50 on Ebay. BUT its not aan upgrade - its a new install, so a.make a backup of files and b. ensure you have Win7 drivers.Windows 7 upgrade advisor says my old PC is fine as far as an upgrade goes.
An alternative (if PC is not too old) is Win8Pro UPGRADE (specifically an upgrade from XP). Try the 8 compatibility checker. (8.1 and 8.1 upgrade 1 are free).

EDIT: check your MS Office runs on 8 first.0 -

That Dell 4600 has done pretty well..... from 2004 according to your tag.... pesonally I'd stick with XP, keep the antivirus up to date along with Malwarebytes and risk it (making backups to a seperate place for important things)
You could install Win7 but the PC is getting towards the end of its life realistically so is it worth spending out, that's the question?
Also need to check what Ram you have, it originally shipped with 256mb ram but that could have been upgraded by you over the years of course. Ideally 2Gb is required for Win7 (1gb works but can be a bit painful waiting for things to happen)

Thanks - I had upgraded to 1.2 GB, which is okay for my current needs.
Looks like I'll have to upgrade the computer at some stage, but will plug on XP with for the foreseeable.0 -
I'm sure that I sent you a PM....0
