EE phases out Orange brand in UK
The future is bright but it may not be Orange for much longer in the UK. One of the world's most successful brands after it was created on these shores 20 years ago, the mobile phone network is to phase out its distinctive presence in Britain.
Orange has stopped signing new customers online in the UK and, along with sister company T-Mobile, it has closed its British internet shopfront.
The move is being seen as the first big step in parent company EE's gradual winding down of two of the best known names in British telecoms, as it seeks to move customers on to its new superfast 4G network.

oh well there goes my magic numbersWhat goes around-comes around0

errr what?
This is such a misleading title and such old news.
Orange and T-Mobile online stores were shut down a while ago.
But they still exist for existing customers and new sign ups. people can sign up to a new contract or upgrade with T-Mo and Orange in store or via telesales.
Just the online store is gone to encourage people to buy EE. In store the staff will push EE and same on the phone. Only under last resort circumstances are EE staff to sell Orange/T-Mobile plans. Orange and T-Mobile still exist in their entirety.0 -
Makes sense.0

Why?
Orange are the worst of the two brands in terms of value for money.
I'd have switched from Orange ages ago onto a different network. Hell even EE do better deals than Orange at the moment.0 -
i do get my magic numbers still which my husband and friends are on aswell once that goes i gues si'll have to move anywayWhat goes around-comes around0

Orange/T Mobile days are numbered it would seem, but then that was the intention all along I imagine. Why create EE and still leave the other two in operation and in competition with each other?
The single entity of EE is designed to maximise profits rather than to give customers more choice, and profits are what business is all about.0 -

Fair enough. But usually when signing a new modern contract you can get unlimited minutes or even free calls to the same network. Even giff gaff on payg do this.
So worth looking at switching.0 -
