Exchanged But Nervous

This weekend is not going any quicker! I can't help but imagine every horror story possible :-)
I just want to be in my new home :-)
Thinking about it though... you only ever read the horror stories online right? I mean you don't get people posting saying all went well! Those people just get on with it and I would imagine there are many more that go well than not?
Also most of the stories of lenders pulling due to change in lending criteria etc seem to be from around 2007 to 2011... there isn't as much recently... so maybe a alot of it also had to do with the financial climate? What do you think?
This has to be the longest weekend. EVER. My valuation is Tuesday and I'm very, very nervous as I'm expecting it to come in lower than estimated. Had it not been Easter it would have been done on Friday
But yes, it's generally only the horror stories you read about. I panicked when I started reading reviews of my lender (Santander) until I stared Googling other lenders and they were all bad lol0 -
The chocolate and wine is getting me through this long weekend, as well as a lot of furniture window shopping.
I think you do read the worst stories online, they are going to get more clicks/replies and crop up more easily. Its like Amazon or TripAdvisor reviews, if you listened to all of them you would never buy anything or go anywhere.
This time next week we should all come back and say that it all worked out after all0 -
I think if you asked the mortgage brokers on here how often a mortgage is pulled between exchange and completion, they'd say it was really rare. So, statistically, you're likely to be fine - particularly as you haven't changed your circumstances,0

I'm with you all , I've exchanged and complete on the 30th I'm with halifax already have existing mortgage with them, I've googled mortgages being pulled after exchange ( big mistake. ) and now sat surrounded by boxes thinking I may have to unpack them again in this house !! Although nothing has changed since offer I'm completely engulfed by fear0

Wouldn't you still be liable for the 10% after exchange though? would be pretty mean of the mortgage company to say sorry no mortgage and now you've just lost £20k etc! think i'd top myself!0

I'm also having a similar stress as our MA listed our company cars as loans on our application and the mortgage states any finance with our employer must be paid off before completion. HR have said they'll give me a letter stating we have no outstanding finance but it's still a stress. Due to complete on the 29th so fingers and toes crossed.0

We are coming up to exchange at the moment and if I'm honest, I'll be worried up until the moment that the keys are in our hands I think (born worrier).
This post worries me a bit more though as we have a day to day spending credit card, all groceries, petrol etc go on it and then my partner and I pay it off half and half at the end of the month so we can split the costs (we don't have a joint account yet and may not until we get married next year). Our broker said that he didn't think this was an issue so we have still been doing it.If it doesn’t move, and it should, use WD-40. If it moves, and it shouldn’t, use duct tape!0 -
We'll I'm on count down 8 day until we complete I'm nervous now imagine what I'm going to be like when awaiting the call for picking up keys oh god I feel sick at the thought0

I worked for a big lender for 28 years, and I can't remember a single case where the mortgage offer was pulled between exchange and completion.
So it's kind of rare.Early retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0
