Exchanged But Nervous

Hi,

We recently exchanged and are completing next week!

However I am getting really scared that the mortgage company may pull out before we complete.

Does this happen a lot? or am I worrying needlessly?

Thanks

Unless you've lied or your circumstances have changed materially. Then you've nothing to be concerned about.

    It'll be fine unless:
a] You lied on your application
b] You've actually lost your job or changed it since you applied
c] You've got your credit card in your hand this week borrowing money for furniture etc.....

    Hi,

Thankfully none of what has been mentioned has occurred. No credit cards, I haven't lied on my application and I haven't changed my job.

I am a contractor and have only changed contracts. But the new contract is for more money and the mortgage company knew I was a contractor and knew when my contract was expiring and when I would need to change when they offered us the mortgage. The only point they required was that I had one months unexpired on my contract at the point of application. Which I did have.

Also my solicitors got confirmation they were ok with everything before they exchange the other week.

So you think I will be ok then.

You'll be fine .... you've more chance of being run over by a bus before you complete.

I feel your nerves! We are exchanging next week and DH went out earlier and bought something on our credit card.....for £20. This is the only £20 on our credit card. I got slightly overwrought about him daring to use the credit card before we have completed.

He quiet rightly told me to take a deep breath, sit down and eat an Easter egg as the house stress is clearly getting to me...... ;)

Don't worry. You'll do enough of that the night before completion, and on the day itself too............!

This weekend is not going any quicker! I can't help but imagine every horror story possible :-)

I just want to be in my new home :-)

Thinking about it though... you only ever read the horror stories online right? I mean you don't get people posting saying all went well! Those people just get on with it and I would imagine there are many more that go well than not?

Also most of the stories of lenders pulling due to change in lending criteria etc seem to be from around 2007 to 2011... there isn't as much recently... so maybe a alot of it also had to do with the financial climate? What do you think?
