@ cifpower Usually anyone asking about the details of usage for the 3-2-1 PAYG tariff is pretty much going to be interested in the relevant PAYG information only, not a contract price comparison.

I was interested in the answers given here as I haven't actually used my 3-2-1 sim for anything more than a few texts so far.
I have this sim in my smartphone simply for those occasions where I might really need to use the internet while I am away from a WiFi connection, or for an emergency phone call. I don't make calls otherwise.

When I got the free 150Mb for my initial top-up, I didn't actually find an opportunity to use it, so that was proof that paying a monthly fee for data would be a waste of money for me. 1p per Mb is perfect for my sporadic usage....and for other people who are like me. :D And, as Buzby says, if I ever need more I can pay £5 for a month's worth.

Kudos to Three's 321 service for sure. But all my previous pay as you go SIMs from other providers would offer rudimentary online billing - at the very least an online check of recent calls and data. Handy for checking none of your apps are running away with your data for example. Three considers offering this to be beyond its competence.

Well although you cannot see detail on the 3 website, you can see how much data you have from your allowance left and see how much credit you have. You can easily keep an eye on this to work out if anything unexpected is happening.

ie I've not made any calls or texts in the last hour but my credit has gone down by £1 ... something has used 100Mb of data.

It's not ideal, but it's not that difficult really.

Unfortunately not. You cannot tether or put the SIM into anything that is not a phone.

Buzby at #9 - how do you get unlimited data for £5 extra per month? I don't see that option.

do you keep your data on all the time if so then there will be background apps that will whittle this down. I only turn on my data when i need it and last month only used 80p of data and i consider i am always on it :) as opposed to leaving it on.

If you want to analyse where data is going, Android has some good monitoring apps. With iPhones the only option seems to be Onavo Count, it installs a profile that sends all data thru a proxy so can count exactly which apps are using it.
