Ever thought about turning the plug off and back on again at the wall ?0

Hey Conor
ever thought about some constructive advice......0 -
Well usually it works. If you can't turn it on from standby using the remote, turn it off at the wall and back on again which resets the TV.
Sometimes you need to leave it off a while for the caps in the PSU to discharge though.0 -
What I would do is unplug EVERYTHING (aprt from power naturally!) from your TV and try the TV remote.0

My parents' Sky+ box got stuck in standby last weekend. Nothing I tried worked and so I phoned Sky, who sent out an engineer. My parents have only had Sky+ plus for a month and it appears that the engineer who installed it put it underneath their DVD player. This resulted in the Sky+ box overheating. In the circumstances the box was replaced and re-positioned on top of the DVD player.0

This is Sky's stock answer to this issue:
Hold in the back up button.
un plug and re plug the sky + system
keep holding back up
If this doesn't work it may well be a failed hard drive.
You could also try a master reset but you'll lose any recordings and series links:
1/ Unplug your box
2/ Hold down the Left & Right Buttons on the front of your box
3/ Plug the Box back in (Still holding the Left & Right Buttons)
4/ Whilst still holding the L & R Buttons press and release the Standby button on the front of the box
The Green circular light should light up now
5/ Let go of the Left and Right buttons and Press Select
The Green light should rotate And the Record and Play light should light up.
After a short wile the box will Turn off, It will be of a short wile then it will re boot.
Now the Power light will come on (red) press it and your box should come out of standby...?

Try disconnecting everything from the rear of the tv like scarts and ariel leads. Then switch of TV at mains then back on and try from there0 -
Are there any channel selection buttons on the TV itself?
Generally, pressing one of those should bring it out of standby.0 -
