*When* exactly, did Advice re: PCNs change?

I sympathise with the OP's position but, had they read around the subject to any degree, even 12-14 months ago, (and especially in the "stickies" as they then were) it would have been apparent that with POFA having recently come into force there was a need for some caution - there has always been a "health warning" attached to the ignore advice viz Don't ignore genuine court papers. If that in itself fails to convey a "health warning" - that there is an element of risk - then what does?
Coming back here now, with the benefit of hindsight, attacking the advice that was then given is both unhelpful and pointless if the objective is to attack the advice. We none of us have crystal balls to my knowledge. I'm sorry if, over a year later you have received a chasing letter and feel aggrieved but as I said none of us can see into the future.
The OP may, by all means, choose to ignore things from here on if they wish (they are in any event well beyond normal appeals processes although there are other suggestions. They will need to read around to get to that.) but keep in mind that at any point in the 6 years after a PCN was issued a PPC may institute proceedings. Provided they are prepared to live with that risk then by all means carry straight on.
We may advise against that course of action but then we are at liberty to express that advice in exactly the same way that the OP is free to ignore it.
For a majority of those who post here now asking for advice their interest is in ensuring that the issue goes away. Going through the appeals processes effectively guarantees that. The OP's proposal does not and cannot. Although that may be fine for them, for others it most certainly is not.My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
I suppose the best way forward is for smallperson to continue to ignore and then report back in 6 months time.
After all, ParkingEye still do not take every single case to court, so if they prefer playing the percentages rather than writing 2 letters then so be it.Dedicated to driving up standards in parking0 -
Update: They had to cancel their "fine". No letters written, no need for hours reading through all those threads. I'm sure you all mean well, but none of that is necessary.0

Perhaps rather than coming back just to say "see, I told you so", you could show a little community spirit and explain why PE "had to cancel". There are plenty of others who have been taken to court by PE so I don't believe for a second that they suddenly and inexplicably sent you a letter saying "it's OK, we've let you off".0 -

ParkingEye issued court papers to around 17000 people last year and continue to have court hearings sending legal reps, and win most, ripping people off every day of the week right now. We know that for certain.
Count yourself one of the lucky ones.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

There's always one isn't there. And that is exactly the point: that you managed to get ONE fake fine cancelled for whatever reason proves nothing.
Here's a challenge for you, since you are so cocksure of yourself: go and get another half-dozen ParkingEye fake fines at a half-dozen different sites, ignore everything PE sends you, and see what happens.Je suis Charlie.0 -
