Cost of Euthanasia

My 15 year old dog had a stroke last night and I'm hoping she will recover from it. I knew she was getting old but it was shock and so unexpected at the same time. I would like to make sure I have money put aside for when the time comes and I have to say goodbye and I dont want to have to worry about the cost I know I'm looking at £150 for a cremation but how much will the vets charge me to put her to sleep?

Costs will vary nationwide. I recall paying about £300 about 7 years ago, but that included individual cremation.0

The best way to find out is to discuss it with your vet as it will depend on whether you're wanting them to come out to your home to PTS, or whether you think you may need to take your dog in.
They don't mind discussing it - I had a similar conversation a couple of years ago and mutt had to be unexpectedly PTS shortly after. I think it was under £100 because I took her in.
It's horrible to have to think about, but its best to be prepared and to think about the best way of going about it.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I lost my 2 border collies in November, one in Essex and the other in Yorkshire when i was visiting family. The Euthanasia was aroond £70 in both cases and cremation and ashes returned in a small casket around £300 in both cases.
Be careful about cremation. If you want your dog back in its entirity you will have to pay for an individual cremation. I could have had a cheaper cremation but would have got back half a dog, two rabbits and the back leg of a ferrett. An individual cremation is much more than a communal one.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
Sorry your dog's so unwell Vicky.
No idea about costs though.0 -
Sorry to hear that news.
I know it is not here (UK) but I had to have my old boy pts in Ireland (ROI) last month and it was £85. I think that was very likely quite a bit more than it would have cost here. I took him to the surgery.
If the vet comes out to your house there is obviously a call out charge. I suspect costs also are related to weight of the animal since it is an anaesthetic.
I would just ring the vet and ask the question now, then you are prepared.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

It cost me about £140 for a call out to put my beloved Danes to sleep, and about £300 for individual cremation and having them returned to me. Very large dogs so quite a high euthanasia cost.2 angels in heaven :A0

last summer, Scotland, £240 for home visit to PTS and individual cremation.
hope this helps and you don't need the info for some time x0 -
Goodness some of those are expensive! I paid £70 for individual cremation (small westie) and I think it was around £40 for him to be PTS.0
