I hope we see lower prices for food soon.0

I go to Tesco as the self scanner and hand held scanners with dedicated till just work perfectly.
As someone a long time Shopper as Sainsbury's said to me recently - I can see why you go to Tesco the whole checkout business with self/hand held scanners is just so quick.
I believe that customer till service is something the supermarket should pay for, if they want me to scan my own groceries they should give me 5% off the prices they charge.
Additionally, I'm not a rabid left winger by any means, but to my mind the more people that use these things then the more lower paid checkout operators they can make redundant even if by just by natural wastage. So I make a conscious decision to use regular till service as my own, admittedly minor, stand against even more jobs for lower paid people disappearing.0 -

There will be a big fanfare annoucement soon about price cuts but whether they are geuine cuts who knows.
A bit like Asda`s "roll backs"
they roll them well forward in the first place.
People found out they couldn`t trust the banks, then the energy companies, maybe the big 4 are next.
Although their share prices are on the ropes they still make plenty of profits with their prices.
Even after "fiddling" £250 million, the remaining £850 million profit for a six month period is not too bad.

I find it very strange that Morrisons, who must be used to driving a hard bargain with suppliers, paid so much for Ocado their shares more than doubled whilst Morrisons shares plunged“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” --Upton Sinclair0 -
A headline in the FT today is Tax cuts for wealthy to be funded by unspecified spending cuts.
The Governments relentless drive to widen the gap between rich and poor can only add to the relentless fall in middle of the road grocers shares, as they all lose customers at both ends“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” --Upton Sinclair0 -

I can't see where this tax cut money can come from. But I think that it ought to come from a good sorting out of this child tax benefit scheme where bizarrely a couple can earn upto 50k each and obtain a state benefit for their offspring.0 -
You may be right there.

Base politics is such that they don't go into detail on the spending cuts until after the election. Whatever, it can only add to the fundamental problem for middle of the road grocers.“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.” --Upton Sinclair0 -
Warren Buffett: Tesco shares 'a huge mistake
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-29457053
Huge mistake he admits, but I doubt he'll sell at the moment. As much as I'd like Tesco to improve their position I have suspicion that more problems will unravel.0
