Yup - their football is watered down rugby for wimps!

Hi Goldiegirl. We are sailing out of Venice and its Oceania which is an American line.. I have already e-mailed them and they aren't showing it hence his need for an alternative.
I suppose all the European passengers could attempt a mutiny if they don't show it!Early retired - 18th December 2014

Now there's an idea! To be honest I'm not 'bovvered' but trying to keep the OH sweet. It is surprising that they don't plan to show it somewhere but hey ho.

the internet package will be free but limited minutes.
the reason the ships don't show things is the licence costs.
if hubby wants the footy leave him at home and take the boyfriend:)
it will be down to port timings might look them up as doing cruise research this week.
ps i don't care for the football...0 -
sailing out of Venice 4pm 13 july great timing
now the Adriatic is quite good for mobile signals at sea so a data package might on 3 might get something0 -

I always though that as soon as you were over 12 miles off shore, in international water, no country could claim rights you you?

Presumably, from what she posted, the OP is scheduled to board the Oceania Insignia at Venezia on Saturday, 12 July and sail out into the Adriatic late the following afternoon, Sunday, 13 July at 5:00 pm CET.
Barring riots and stadium collapses in the run up to it, the World Cup FInal would appear to be scheduled to start at 4:00 pm local time (in Rio) on Sunday, 13 July. The time zone there is UTC–03:00, which would make it 7:00 pm GMT, 8:00 pm BST and 9:00 pm in La Serenissima. At which hour the OP is expecting to be “at the pool with a long drink”. At night.
The ship is of civilised size, 30,277 grt, and carries (nominally) 684 passengers and 400 crew; it isn’t one of those vast floating Las Vegas gin palaces that your postings elsewhere on MSE suggest that you favour personally, packed in with 5,000 fellow tourists of the type who share the discourteous intellectual incapacity to use the Shift key on a computer and write like an oik. Its facilities are commensurate with its scale and its clientele.
The itinerary is nice but you will have your own view about the desirability of embarking upon it during the last half of July. (As have I.) It will probably be very nice provided the air-conditioning holds out and they don’t step off the ship at ports, getting their pockets picked, getting their iPad nicked while looking for a wi-fi signal and getting trampled underfoot by the profusely sweating holidaying hordes.

Well Gratis as one of the bars is actually by the pool I am expecting to be sitting outside on several evenings enjoying the balmy weather - with a long drink or 3
. Sadly, as for the hot weather in the med there is little to be done as we both teach and so have to take our hols when we can so will have to brave both the hordes and the high temperatures - and as our alternative tends to be skiing it will be nice to climb above zero degrees! I think he is coping with his disappointment, particularly as Liverpool have just been ousted from the top spot by City so football is (thankfully) not for discussion at the moment!!
