HTC One M8 or Samsung Galaxy S5?

Upgrade time for me now and looking to get a new handset.
The above two are the only two i'm considering just now but trying to decide what one i want.

HTC One M8
Good points
Screen displays colours more naturally.
Nice build quality with the aluminium body.
5MP front facing camera with HDR mode.
Sense enhanced GUI

Bad points
Non removeable battery
Poor reputation for build quality compared to Samsung.
Not water resistant.

Samsung Galaxy S5
Good points
Fingerprint scanning for Paypal etc.
16MP rear camera and 4k video recording
Water resistant up to 1 meter and 30 minutes
Removeable battery
Lighter than the M8

Bad points
Touchwiz enhanced GUI is slow feeling compared to HTC's Sense
Front facing camera is only 2MP with no HDR mode
Cheaper feeling than the M8

What would others pick from the two above and why?

Removable battery and sdcard would sway me if i had to choose between phones .Thought that they where both overpriced when looked at replacement phones last week .
TW dont know as not tested S5 but TW does need plenty of ram .
    M8 probably more stylish .

I get a staff discount at my work and both handsets are the same price on it. Using an S3 at the moment and since the KitKat update it's really slow. Power Save mode is pretty much useless as well with the lag.

Both come with the SD card slot this time

Personally i would go for the HTC.

But that is based on the fact that i really don't like the samsung interface and the M8 feels faster.
In saying that, I'll be honest that I am past my upgrade date and i am not getting either of these, I'm waiting to see what the LG G3 comes out like and the nexus 6.

I'd forgot about the Sony Experia Z2 as well.
With 3GB of RAM and 20MP camera it's a good contender

  • Hi guys.

I've just read on the BBC The fingerprint sensor on Samsung's Galaxy S5 handset has been hacked less than a week after the device went on sale goo.gl/lQiTr9 (links to bbc page)

So, fingerprint feature is off the 'Good points'.

Looking at the full specs at goo.gl/lR4zIR ( gsmarena) . the S5 seems to me way better than the HTC M8.

Personally, I would go for the S5, simply because I wouldn't want to have the Non-removable-battery.
( if i was to own an S5, I wouldn't use the fingerprint feature to make Paypal payment) I'll wait for the eye-scan feature, lol.
