Facebook non thanking winners ?

Options
I've noticed lots of new names popping up on Facebook and entering L&S comps.

However I've also seen several new names announced as winners who don't even seem to thank or even acknowledge the company ?

Do you think these are automated type entries from the sites where you have to pay for them to enter for you, or even what I call the "remote" sites where you like and share from there and never visit the company page. Maybe these "newbies" have no idea that they have won ?

BTW do you all thank companies ?
I always do as I think it's only polite and hopefully it will encourage them to do more competitions if they see positive feedback.

It's probably all done by DM so you wouldn't necessarily see the gratitude being expressed.

Or maybe it's just the new mentality of the newer compers coming into the hobby?

There's been a huge increase in the number of compers out there, and some people I see posting on here act like a prize is a right, not a fantastic gift... (None of the regulars, of course  ). I can't see them being effusively grateful...!

ETA - yup, always thanks companies for awarding me a prize, and then again once received :D

ETA2 - Argh, that doesn't mean ALL the newbies... :o Sorry to anyone I offended!!

Oh, Gina, please, please don't think I meant all the newbies!!!!! Argh, that wasn't what I meant at all ... :o

I think it's lovely you write thank you cards - it's a dying art in everything... I used to be made to write them as a kid, now none of my younger cousins etc ever bother sending them to me.

Ironically, I just found a post from yesterday - St Tropez' Pinterest comp - mentioning (though not tagging) me as a winner... That was the post that was publicly viewable.

However, they tagged me in a reply to my post on their wall with the Pinterest link for my board, and I replied there to say thank you - i.e. somewhere not many people would see.

But I've now said thank you on the other post as well. So I feel better ;)

Is there any particular reason why you do that?

I always thank on the FB wall because I think it gives the company some public recognition, which is why - after all - they hold comps in the first place...

I thank them the day the parcel arrives, then often post a piccie of the prize on their wall when I get round to taking a photo.
  • My brancott estate wine win was worth 260 it was from delicious magazine but the prize was from brancott estate. Think its just a nice thing to do and I read somewhere it can encourage the companies to do more comps x
