Watch Netflix with iPad via Apple TV or app on TV?

Would it be better to watch Netflix programmes through their app on my smart TV or from my ipad via Apple TV?

Or wouldn't there be much difference?

    No difference.
  • Less latency (lag) if you use the app on your TV. Otherwise, Netflix needs to go Router -> iPad -> AppleTV, rather than just Router->TV

It depends really, we have samsung smart tv and it will not remain connected to the internet for more than fifteen minutes at a time, there is absolutely no problem with our internet. So we use our apple tv as we have never had connection problems.

Won't the processor in the ipad be faster than the one in the TV or isn't this relevant?

Why would you want to watch stuff on a tiny 10 inch screen? Left them behind in the 1950's, all be it in back and white.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

The OP has the excellent Apple tv so anything on your iPhone or iPad can be viewed on your tv wireless, so netflix is coming from the iPad to the tv- they are not viewing it on the iPad.

  • Wait a minute, you have apple TV? Why don't you just use the Netflix app on that? There's no need to go via the iPad

Apple TV native Netflix app, all the way. I've compared that vs mirroring from the ipad; and the native app is much better

I watch Netflix using the app on my Smart TV and its quite good, cant comment what the Apple TV app is like.
  • The apple TV app is ok, not as interactive as the ipad app but pretty good. I like using the Chromecast, as I can use the ipad/android app, but the streaming quality is better.

I just find the streaming is a bit jerky when i use the Apple TV mirroring, and the resolution doesn't seem as high
