HELP!!banks won't take my money

Comments

  • Two statements from the OP in separate posts:

    First
as far as I know HMRC have no right to collect the tax on it anyway, it's all processed through a foreign country and then gets transferred to my bank account in the UK having already been taxed by the foreign government.

    and later
HMRC can’t touch my money because gambling winnings are not subject to any tax whatsoever

Usually it's good to have two reasons for something. But not when each reason contradicts the other.

Besides, if your income is from gambling, and gambling is not subject to any tax, then why are you paying tax on it to a foreign government?

    Entitlement to what?

I'm slightly envious!! one area of life I wish I was better at, always been awful when it comes to ICT.

I'm not sure that ICT had been invented in the early 80s! I was entirely self taught as there was no-one else to learn from. Not only was I the first person in my school with a computer at home, I was probably the first in my town. That machine was where I learned the ropes of assembly programming but it was the next one where I actually started making some money.

However, it was to be many years until I started to understand finances, which was a shame as I was well into running my first company by then. So, it was my first company where I started to learn the ropes, and the next one where I actually started to make some money!

No they don't, you see I make the money in the UK but the companies are based in tax haven countries. As it's there responsibility to pay the tax it goes to a foreign government of where they are based. All I meant was that the money is taxed but I doubt the HMRC sees a penny of it.

Oh and I never said I paid the tax on it to a foreign government, read the words, I just said it get's taxed. I never mentioned that I paid it.

We are all human, just take the facts in future and don't assume!!

Anyway, instead of joining in the badinage on this forum, did you solve your problem? Or do you prefer just arguing with people?

Regardless of my circumstances I was asking for advice and not for judgement to be imposed upon me.

i think you need to accept that some folks will disbelieve, and that some folks will judge, but i agree with you. and i hope that some of the responses you have received have been helpful.

If a social tenant uses RTB to purchase their home, don't they have to live in it after purchase, for a certain period?

Are RTB rules allowing folk to purchase homes at a discount and immediately become private landlords?

The OP seems to have a tremendous sense of entitlement.........sigh......hush-my-mouth

    I

No once owned it's your's to do what you want with it, just not allowed to sell it for a profit within the first 5 years. It's like HP, you can't sell it until your paid off but you can do what you want with it in the meantime

A lot of people don't know this but you can actually sub-let while being a tenant as well. There are strict rules governing this though and time limits.

I'm not becoming a private landlord, it's only going to be let out because I'm overseas more and more due to commitments so it seems a waste to leave it empty! When and if I return it will revert back as my permanent home.

I think I'm being quite generous actually by freeing up my home for extra housing if I'm not going to be using it. I could just as easily leave it empty.

I'm intrigued at this so called "entitlement" because I'm not entitled to anything as far as I knew!

Yes half and half, so some progress I suppose. Thank you anyway.

I like to give everyone a response regardless of the comments as I would feel rude not to!!

Yes thank you Planteria, advice taken on board and will hopefully have something better set in the near future. I made some progress yesterday so that's a step up from the day before!
