So my stocks and shares ISA experience is off to a great start.
opened with £5000 on 20/02, I had been looking at investing for sometime and chose just the right time for a market crash. so far the plan is down to £4800 in 6 days. This was put in as a long term investment with a view to continually add to it as and when so my initial thought is, there is nothing I can do and I just need to ride it out and stop looking at it.
Other idea would be to accept losses and pull out funds into cash in the plan and wait and see before getting back in.
or double down and add more when things are looking more positive/less virusey.

I feel it may be a case of boo hoo and just accept I have the worst timing in the world and leave it alone but would appreciate some others opinions.

a phrase i've often heard on these boards "it's not about timing the market, it's about time in market."
It's a long term investment. put it away. Look at the numbers quarterly / yearly.

  • Question - on the MSE site (would post the link but I'm too new a member) it states that the Cavendish stocks and shares ISA is charged at 0.25% annually for portfolios up to the value of £200k, but when I've just gone to register it says 0.5%. Seems quite a significant difference or is the MSE site just out of date? Apologies if this is a silly question, first time investor.

I think that's when my recent HL UK Growth (Inc) Fund goes live -from 1st April.
    Unless I'm mistaken.
I had referred to 1st April when I had initially logged online to HL.
Though my deposit and further payments are setup from 7th March - I don't yet have any further info ,
Edited unless HL are going to begin Investing from 10th March in that mentioned fund, then that's fine.

Slightly off topic though Virgin Money e-saver 14 arrived in post today.
I'll start to use that as home Emergancy fund by placing small regular deposits, found to be very useful during 2019 particularly for Building Maintainers.

    Though understandable, given the conditions.

It really would be better if you kept all your ultra-detailed stories of your savings and investment journeys to your own threads, as this sort of stuff adds nothing to the generic informational threads intended for sharing insight that's of interest and use to other posters....
