Stocks & Shares ISAs

You want Charles Stanley Direct, who don't have the £1K minimum requirement their private customers arm has.0

I hope this is not the wrong place to post this question, but here it comes:
given that it is now possible to transfer funds from a Cash ISA to an Investment/Stocks&Shares ISA (and vice versa), is it always a full transfer from one type to the other, as I haven't been able to find any reference to partial transfers?
In other words, if someone has 10k in a Cash ISA, could they transfer 4k from the Cash ISA to an Investment ISA, either leaving the remaining 6k in the original Cash ISA or transferring it to a more productive Cash ISA?
Or is it only possible to convert the entire 10k from Cash to Investment without any notion of splitting the amount?0 -
The overall HMRC rule is that you can do partial transfers, except of current year subscriptions, which need to be kept intact. However, Ts & Cs of individual providers/accounts may vary....0

Despite going through my "records", I'm unable to figure out/remember if I've taken out an ISA during the current financial year; anyone know how I can find out?0

Why does it matter if you've taken money out of an ISA? once it's out, it loses its ISA status anyway."If you aren’t willing to own a stock for ten years, don’t even think about owning it for ten minutes” Warren Buffett

I don't think PanicButton means "taken out" in the sense of taking money out of an existing ISA, but rather in the sense of opening up a new one....0 -

Ahh, thanks for pointing that out. I totally misread his post then!
@PanicButton, only thing I can suggest after you've looked through all your records and statements and contacted your current providers is to contact HMRC, but I'm not sure how much help they can offer."If you aren’t willing to own a stock for ten years, don’t even think about owning it for ten minutes” Warren Buffett

HMRC wouldn't know until sometime towards the end of 2016 at the earliest.
PanicButton, surely it is straight forward to go through your bank statements since April 6 this year to find any payments you made into an ISA.0 -
Odds are if you don't remember doing it you didn't. Unless you were high/drunkLeft is never right but I always am.0

Agreed. If you can't remember opening an account in the last 5 months I think you may have some issues.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0
