Sky contract

Sky is not a charity. If they offer you a reduced tariff on existing services (as opposed to just dropping certain services) then there is always a trade off-in this case a new minimum term.
However, given the ambiguity of their statements, you should definitely press for a review of what you were sold.
I realise that Sky is not a charity, but I certainly would never agree a new contract if I knew l could or may not be able to afford it, or that I was not getting what I thought I was paying for.
I have since had another call from a Sky Agent, who was unaware of today's earlier happenings. She said Sky do confirm new contracts in writing, but when I pointed out that my Father in Law has never been subjected to a new contract, confirmed or otherwise, she said that some offers are not subject to a new contract and some are. This adds to the ambiguity.0 -
Lets be clear here.
You do NOT have to agree to a new 12 month contract to get a new 12 month deal or deals. Then again they do not have to give you any offers.
The 2 get outs on this (I know of for sure) are if you agreed to it, or if any new equipment was involved in the deal (Excluding the little sky go connector).0 -

Thank you for your input. To the best of my memory I did not agree to a new contract or receive any new equipment. The phone recording expected within 5/6 weeks should prove this. I know I am getting a bit slow nowadays, added to which, the Sky packages, offers etc can be very confusing. Incidentally, this is not the first time I have wanted to cancel and have been persuaded otherwise with special offers, without any mention of a new contract.
On this latest occasion, I emphasised my only real interest is Sports and I am aggrieved that by taking away the Entertainment plus package, without my knowledge I also lost Eurosport. I feel it is curious that Eurosport should be included in the Entertainment package. No reasonable person would expect that and I believe that knowing my Sport interest, the agent should have made this clear. Otherwise I am happy with the package I was offered, obviously without committing to a new 12 month contract.0 -
I located the Sky email summarising the changes made in February.
It lists the extras that I had to give notice of 31 days to cancel, ie Entertainment Extra, HD, 3D, Multi-room, Sky go extra.
That left only Sky Entertainment & Sports remaining.
What the email fails to include is the fact (if I recall correctly) that Sky gave me an offer of 20% off the Sports Package.
The email makes no reference to a new 12 contract, which of course, would not apply to the cancelled packages. Moreover, it is my understanding that upgrades (which I assume includes changes) in respect of the movies and/or sports are not subject to a new 12 month contract. These services can be terminated with just 31 days notice if customer changes their mind.
If the above is correct then there should be no question of my incurring the commitment of a new contract ???0
