They will claim that they act as an agent of the landowner.

Don't worry about the exact details of your matter too much. Just crack on with the POPLA appeal.

Hi there, I just received 4 separate parking tickets from the university carpark for not showing valid permits. I tried to search the web for some of the information but failed to gather any. Would it happen to anyone on here that has dealt with them before?
I know it is a new company, I have no idea about the methods they use to reclaim the fees and whether they are likely to take people to courts? Thanks

Which Uni - they "caught" me at Winchester, and I wrote them a polite "GFY" letter because they break all the rules on the site, including ticketing on public roads.

Old company, new company it matters not.
As you are a student your time is precious and should be spent on other things than this, it may be worth while keeping a time sheet as well as an expenses sheet and logging how long you are spending on this matter
this is form the sticky thread at the top of this message board
    (c) If you reject my challenge and insist upon taking the matter further I must inform you that I may claim my costs from you and my time at the court rate of £18 per hour. The expenses I may claim are not exhaustive but may include the cost of stamps, envelopes, travel expenses and legal fees as well as liquidated damages for distress arising from harassment.
If you do decide to go down that route, be honest be truthful, the £18 per hour figure is a maximum and you may feel thats a little high, likewise with expenses, keep your receipts and be honest.
also, depending on how things are, you could also re word that slightly aimed at who ever it is that took on the parking company. Normally i would recommend going for the land owner/who ever took the parking company on as well, however in some cases such as if your a student, or an employee it may be best to just go for the monkey instead of the organ grinder.
    From the Plain Language Commission:

"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"

    What do you mean?

According to your earlier posts - you have already heard back from First Parking and received your rejection and POPLA codes .......

Again you were asked which university is this?

I would really like to see a copy of this parking charge notice - if you could possibly post one up redacted using tiny pic or something please.

Some universities are also members of the BPA and First Parking are NOT a typical parking company - we really need to see a sign here if possible.

First Parking are run by the creative Snow family who have had a multitude of companies with quite creative accounts in the past - one such company had the designated shareholders as their grand-children's trust fund.

First parking specialise in providing software solutions to the parking company including ANPR software and permit parking software.

pm me or kirkbyinfurnlesslad if you want to take up our company's offer to do your POPLA appeal for you.

Another Cornish parking incarnation. Hopefully, given that one of the directors other ventures is a large sign company based in Redruth that at least their signage will come up to snuff.

Clearly the Uni (Winchester?) have no understanding of the legal situation and regardless of what FP have to say the Uni's pronouncement:
    Civil Parking Notice

One of the sanctions is the issue of a civil parking notice; parking on University property entails an assumed ‘contract of parking’, the conditions of which are stated on signage at entrances to the University and reiterated in the car parks.

rather cooks the goose. The word "sanction" demonstrates that this is a form of punishment. Punishment = Penalty and if FP's PCN's are based on a genuine pre-estimate of loss then that isn't going to fly too far.

It would be useful to know what the signs on site say.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com
  • @HO87 - just spotted the cornwall connection with one registered office.
they also appear to have Bristol connections - and London registered offices now.

Have you checked the POPLA codes yet for their validity - if not check them on parking cowboys website.

A photo of signage and redacted notice would be great to see.

First Parking's accounts incredibly show a 0 worth with the exact same figure being used as money owed to creditors and debtors alike.....

M Snow also dissolved contract parking solutions llp only last month .

Sorry for the confusion I meant hearing back from POPLA. I am from bath university. I am drafting up my letter to POPLA now and hopefully I will win. There is also one case in which I got a ticket from F1rst as well but I cannot find it on the system as the ticket no. is not present (from the website when i try to retrieve my ticket details. This is the first ever ticket i got from them)

I seem to be not able to post links, I shall pm you the pictures if you don't mind. I will take a photo of the signs on the university campus tomorrow and find a way to upload it. Thank you for all your supports so far, I really appreciate it
