Smashed windscreen in Golf club

Hi
Just looking for a bit of advice please. I was a visitor at a members only golf club and parked in the main car park. During my round, an errant golf ball smashed my windscreen, and the person who did it never reported it.
I've just phoned the golf club to see if anyone had witnessed the incident or reported the accident, and they really couldn't have cared less.
I appreciate parking is probably at my own risk (I don't recall seeing any signs) but is the golf club in any way at fault?
There is apparently CCTV on the car park, but again the secretary couldn't have cared less and wasn't interested in reviewing the footage to try and find out who the culprit was.
The incident happened between 11 am (when I arrived) and 1 pm (when somebody finished their round and mentioned it to the golf pro). As it was a pretty horrible day and the course was extremely quiet, it shouldn't have been too hard to work out who the culprit was - even if nothing could be proven. Even the bar area looked on to the 18th & the car park -surely someone witnessed the incident!
I'm not seeking compensation, I just would like someone to step forward and take a little responsibility!
Probably too much to ask for.
Cheers
Steve

i think deep down you know the answer to your own question. its pretty sad of the way people think and act these days, such a 'dont give a damm attitude. tbh, be thankful that it was your windscreen, you can claim it through your insurance with a small excess to pay. if it hit the bonnet, or doors it would have cost alot more.0

For them to take any responsibility you'd have to show that they (the club) has acted negligently.0

You could report it to the police and inform them there is CCTV that may cover the incident. At least the club officials would then either need to review the footage or explain why they couldn't to them.
Overall you are parking at your own risk on any private property but that doesn't mean you can't exert a bit of pressure .I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
It's not a criminal matter, the police will not be interested, and frankly got better things to be doing!0

It was an accident at the end of the day and they may not even have an idea that it happened, so the chances of anyone owning up is very slim.
There will be a sign somewhere in the car park, declining all responsibility for damage etc, never seen a car park without one TBH. Just put it down to experience and try and not park on the front line in future.0 -
The CCTV will be on the car park. Even if it shows somebody picking up the golf ball that hit your car, there's no proof that this same person was the one who hit the ball in the first place.
There are battles to pick and win ... this isn't one of them.0 -
You could do a DPA subject access release request for a copy of the CCTV footage if your vehicle/ you are capture in it.
Unfortunately this isnt always straight forward because of their requirement to protect the privacy of others in the club. Hopefully they dont get many of them and so it will be processed without too much trouble or you may find that they say the tapes have already been erased/ written over.0 -
A club member damaged your car and your surprised the club don't want to assist you in finding which member and bringing them to justice?0

If released under a SAR the faces of others and other reg numbers should be blurred out making the footage somewhat useless0
