Tesco, Baby Milk and Clubcard points

Up to now have found Tescos quite helpful and good at collecting clubcard points with extra codes. Our first child born 2 weeks ago and we are bottle feeding using Cow & Gate 1. Had a left over clubcard voucher for £2 off £20 spend so thought I would go and get some more Baby milk.
Had gone through the checkout and the woman on the till did not know why the vouhcer was not accepted. Had to call supervisor. "Cant use any vouchers with Baby Milk" she snapped. Pan faced, no apology, not helpful/
What a wake up call. Even more shocked to see that you get NO clubcard points despite spending £5.98 per box on this powder. I was not impressed.
Went straight to Customer Services and asked for a refund as I only went there as I had voucher. "We don't refund Baby Milk. Company policy". I explained that I had just walked from the checkout to the CS counter and had not even left store. "Sorry we dont refund Baby Milk". I explained the only reason I even went there was beacuse of this voucher which they had refused. After some haggling they eventually refunded.
I WAS FUMING.
However, I had seen a new code for £10 off a £25 spend for Tesco Home Shopping. So after getting my refund, went home and ordered 5 x Baby Milk to be devlivered on Tuesday (only £3.99 delivery), hence taking £6.01 OFF the price of the 5 packs of Baby Milk (£1.20 saving per box!)
I am frankly disgusted that Tesco's give nothing in the way of loyalty for buying overpriced Baby Milk. Even less impressed with the pan faced, rude in-store staff. Nothing quite like getting one back at Tesco's.

Same at Boots.. there is something about not being able to spend/receive points on Nappies or something...........0

It's to do with not promoting baby formula, and discouraging breastfeeding. You won't get points, or any special offers on baby milk for babies under 6 months (across all supermarkets and chemists)
however, once your baby turns 6 months, you can move them onto follow on milks, which can be promoted!0 -

As if the bullying and contradictions given by the midwifes both in hospital and outside about breastfeeding wasnt bad enough.
Nanny state, free choice, mothers not able to breast feed, new Labour, price fixing. Feel free to rearrange as fits :-)0 -

congratulations on the new baby, BTW. :j
stop stressing about tesco/nanny state and start enjoying being a new parent.
It'll only get worse when you take the little one out with you....
people walking into the buggy
flicking ash onto your baby
lack of baby change rooms
when you do find them the tables are covered in s**t
waiting for the one lift in shops with stairs
no lifts or ramps at all
waiting for attendants to open disabled loos for you (so you don't have to leave the baby outside the toilet!)
parent and child parking (see various rants on the subject here)
people who touch your baby without asking
and those who offer a week old baby sweets
being asked if it's a boy - when dressed from head to toe in pink
etc.
Enjoy!
:rolleyes:0 -
LOL Thanks sooz0

I most certianly did get £10 off, was delivered 2 days ago with £10 deducted, even though I only had Baby Milk delivered.
Thanks you Mrs Tesco :-) Love - Fifteen0 -

I don't know if this happens everywhere (or if local health authorities still do it even) but I used to get the first formula milk from the "community health clinic" in town. Roughly worked out to be £2-£2.50 off a box. They didn't used to do the follow on milks so once my two were six months I used to buy the boxes from Tesco/Asda wherever, but they're usually cheaper than the first milks anyway.
I'm surprised the small print on your voucher didn't mention that it wasn't redeemable against baby milk as they usually do. I think it also sometimes says you can't redeem vouchers at the ciggarette kiosk too.
JxxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -
the UK subscribes to international agreements on this it has nothing to do with new Labour, the nanny state or even price fixing but UN protocols and WHO guidelines.
Just a shame the hitler midwifes I had demanded I breastfed, even after telling them I could not under any circumstances. The Dr had put it in my notes and everything. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10
