I have an internal aerial and a signal for my tv- it actually works better than the external one (not sure why). I also recently got a hudl which hooks up to my tv and I can watch tv via the internet on that (I'm on unlimited)Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0

If you want to go the DIY route, consider a loft aerial, or mounting the aerial on the side of the house. That's likely to be easier and safer than clambering around on the roof.
Aerials are pretty cheap. The tricky bit will be working out how to get the cable to where you want the TV.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -

I did that. A dedicated wideband aerial at first floor height at the back of the house for my BT Vision box. Only one wall drill hole necessary as well.0 -
Correct. But the same prinicple applies nevertheless. It's daft to pay for a subscription TV service for ever, rather than invest in an aerial or sat dish, if you don't watch the subscription channels.
If you drop the tv package, but keep phone and BB the bill drops by about £3/m. So it would take a fair few years to cover the cost of having an aerial and sockets installed. Also depending on OPs tv, they may need a freeview tuner at additional expense.
Depending on what channels the kids watch after school (freeview is just cbbc and citv) , then it might not be worth getting aerial either as all bbc channels can be viewed online. So if OP only watches news theres no need for a tv feed0 -
Call Virgin and haggle as you can reduce the cost of a basic package. Last month I got the following:
added TV M (Similar to Freeview offering) and Tivo box
Basic Phone package
50mb BB
new 12 month contract. paid the yearly phone charge (£128)
monthly cost for the rest £14
I had to pay £25 for TV installation but even with this the total cost is £26.75/month
