Here is a recipe I like for coleslaw. I make this at least once a week, yum!
    1/4 small red cabbage
    1/2 small green cabbage
    1/2 carrot, shredded
    1/2 red onion
    zest of 1/2 lemon
    1/4 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup olive oil (I use less than this tbh)
    1 tablespoon honey
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Pinch or 2 of chilli flakes
    Directions
Remove any tough outer leaves from the cabbage.
Trim the core and any tough stems from the cabbage and thinly slice.
Add to a bowl with the shredded carrot, onion, lemon zest, lemon juice, olive oil, honey, salt, chilli flakes and black pepper. Toss to combine.
Serve this right away for more of a salad, or store it in the fridge overnight for a slaw that’s more pickled.
That sounds lovely thanks! Particularly like the sound of lemon and honey dressing with no vinegar, but I think I may replace the olive oil with a blander one, .....or maybe walnut oil and add a few walnuts and apple..... Well that's lunch sorted anyway!
I am not young enough to know everything.

Good morning elite. I haven't been on for ages, I've been lurking. Rl getting in the way. I found a receipt last night and I notice that one of the 1.75l bottles of coke was missing from the apg.

They are 3 for £3 but compare to sainbo 70p back on 2 bottles on apg :j

    I hope that helps someone.:j

Thank you all for your hard work!

    Hello Baggy:D

How lovely to see you....hope RL is treating you well ....don't you be a stranger mind:)

Well she is managing to get in and out of bed on her own so that's good. I stayed 1st night but been on her own since. District nurse came yesterday to remove dressing from the leg wound she has had since November and said it is finally healed. I was telling her how much weight Mum gained in hospital with the fluid increase and Mum tutted and looked skyward. The nurse asked her why she was behaving like that and Mum said she was miserable. Nurse was really sweet to her.
I made her a lovely Oxtail Stew but when I asked if she liked it she said she had not had enough although I put out plenty for her t. Yesterday sis and hubby came to fiddle with her phones as they are playing up and we suggested rearranging the lounche to make it more user friendly and so she can see the garden. You would have thought we suggested taking away her recliner the fuss she made. After sis left she gave me the speech about how her life is in tatters and she is miserable. I said well over the last 4 years I have refined their finances to save money, had the windows fitted, got her pension credit, 3 times a day care and am about to see about a new boiler. She then told me I was throwing the 4 years in her face and now I was going back to work. At that point I left as i did not want to argue with her.
This morning she rang to say her glasses were broken and I said well if you look by the telly there are a spare pair I found and cleaned recently. So how uncaring am I.
Birthday on Monday. new job Tuesday and party next weekend. I will not let her get me down so am off to gym now as her new cleaner comes Friday so I just have to do lunch.
    Thanks for asking

Rose, I so feel for you, you are being a star, and do need to think of yourself.
Our Mum has her difficult moments, and they can be rather stressful, but often later she may realise what she was doing and hopefully make some attempt at an apology. At the moment she is not good and is also stuck in bed, but we are not sure why apart from muscle spasms. She gets direct payments to cover 4 hours per day to pay myself and a bit to my my sis. My sis has been there this morning, and i'm taking over from lunchtime, after getting them some shopping in from A's. What Mum doesn't see is she is often getting 8 hours or more a day, which of course we don't mind because she is 'mum', but when you say to her 'I got to go Mum' and she says 'Can you just ....... before you go' it can get a bit much when you have literally just run out of time and then she gets the hump!
Sometimes I feel like I need to get out in the real world more, perhaps get a 'normal' job in Asbo's :rotfl:, but I know those 4 hours she has now would result in 4 brief agency visits, almost def. not enough time to help her shower each day which she likes to do, so she would still be asking if I could come round before/after work and i'd be even worse off!
I have now been doing this for 2 years, and I really do miss the real world of work, at it makes me feel loopy at times. You are doing the right thing Rose. :A
