I'm one of 5, my dad was one of 5 & my Gran was one of 5. Sometimes it was a bit of struggle but we were the closest family in our area, some people have 10 kids & they love eachother, it doesn't matter if you have 200 children as long as you & you're OH love them & they love eachother. So many stereotypes going about & a lot of bad press doesn't help it, I'm privileged to have a beautiful 8 year old who I met again last year for the first time since she was 6 months due to circumstances, that doesn't mean I didn't tried everything I could to keep in contact with her or love her. A lot of people looked at me like "how could you let that happen, you obviously didn't give 2 F's about her!" When that wasn't the case. Now me, my daughter, her mum & my fianc! all have this amazing relationship with each other & now me & OH are now expecting our first & my ex has volunteered to babysit & given the relationship we all have neither of us have any worries about her doing so, in fact we would love her to have baby every now & then to give me & OH a hand. People speak but unfortunately some people speak bulls%#$. Congratulations to you & you're family

WhoWantsChicken, that is such a lovely story! I'm so glad that everything has come good for you. When is you baby due?

Thank you to everyone whose advice has helped me in my desperate quest to make ends meet. x

EDIT-Back on the quest, I've been away too long!

    How is everyone tonight?

Has anyone been watching the "How To Get A Council House" show on Channel 4? Out of interest, is Tower Hamlets a posh place to live in or not Londoners? I'm totally engrossed. I can't wait for next week's episode!

I had to perform emergency first aid on one of my big aloe vera plants tonight- I took off a base leaf and the whole thing came away from the pot

I'm hoping I've managed to save it but it's gonna be a while before I know for sure :(

Funny thing is, to look at it, you'd never have known cos it was happily sat on top of the pot like nothing was wrong. It's as green as it should be and there is tons of new growth :)

Keep yer fingers crossed for me please :A

They're really sensitive to over watering which is easy to do in winter/spring months. I water once a week in warmer weather and once every two weeks in autumn winter and just enough to stop the soil being water logged.

If you still think it's struggling an idea might be to pot it up in orchid compost for a while. It's really loose and free draining and if it has had a bit too much to drink, it'll help the roots to recover. Good luck, it's rotten losing a plant you've nurtured :)
