Old news now I know, but I noticed the following in the link:

"...But Mr Clarke admitted that it was 'impossible' to win against stores likes Lidl and Aldi. He told the BBC: 'Discounters will never allow you to be cheaper than them. But you can get closer to them.' "

An admission that they can't beat Lidl and Aldi? Impossible to win if that's an accurately-quoted word? An admission it seems too that they can't be cheaper than the so-called 'discounters' but can merely "get closer to them". No good - you're still more expensive than them so why should I shop with you? With all the bulk-buying power of T and they can't even, it appears he didn't even say match their prices but merely "get closer to them"? (I'll go and shop with Lidl/Aldi if they're cheaper in spite of all that and if you can, at best, only get 'closer' to them.)

I was watching the BBC News at Ten last night when this story came up and in the report my ears pricked up when it said the Tesco boss would "do anything he could to turn the business around".

No we don't want that!! we also don't want them to sort their IT dept out!

with an organisation that size they will never be fully in control (which is good for us) much like the NHS (which is not good for us) unfortunately..

T'S rely on muggles who can't be arris'd, they would lose us if they sorted their glitches out and prob make more money....we don't want that!!;):rotfl::rotfl:

You've got no worries about the NHS computer system ever being fully in control ;)
