    Tesco profits down:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-27046105

    Elite profits up.

    :D

Old news now I know, but I noticed the following in the link:

"...But Mr Clarke admitted that it was 'impossible' to win against stores likes Lidl and Aldi. He told the BBC: 'Discounters will never allow you to be cheaper than them. But you can get closer to them.' "

An admission that they can't beat Lidl and Aldi? Impossible to win if that's an accurately-quoted word? An admission it seems too that they can't be cheaper than the so-called 'discounters' but can merely "get closer to them". No good - you're still more expensive than them so why should I shop with you? With all the bulk-buying power of T and they can't even, it appears he didn't even say match their prices but merely "get closer to them"? (I'll go and shop with Lidl/Aldi if they're cheaper in spite of all that and if you can, at best, only get 'closer' to them.)

I was watching the BBC News at Ten last night when this story came up and in the report my ears pricked up when it said the Tesco boss had said to the BBC he is "determined to do whatever it takes to turn the business around".

    Resign!!:D:rotfl::rotfl:

Has anyone tried this to see if the double discount comes off?

    Tesco Finest Teroldego 75Cl

    Any 2 for £12.00
    valid until
    29/4/2014
    £7.99 (£7.99/75cl)

Where's neosi when you need him?

That would work out at £4 a bottle, there are cheaper ones ;)

Will post when I confirm later.

Ooo, no idea! And I wouldn't bother with such an expensive price comparison anyway!! (I'd buy in T, separately:eek:.)

I've just gone to look - and yes it compared yesterday to Sains. at 69p:eek:. Waitrose 80p, Morries 80p and Tosskies N/A:(:( (grrr!:(:rotfl:).

    :D Thanks David. :T

I couldn't find one of my bottles last night, turns out after I said Mr S could open it other week he had polished the whole bottle off. I didn't get a single drop.

I will replace it if my Coop have some but hide it as those miniature ones I have from the gift set won't last long. :o
