Buying a personalised plate

If you were to buy that plate - P44 TXO - and display it spaced as in the eBay advert, I doubt that you would last a day where I live without being stopped by the local Polizei who will give you a week to replace it with the correct spacing.
Waste of money - then.
I take it you want PAT or something like it with the rest of the plate not so important.
I decided that there was no way I wanted to pay anything like the prices wanted for my name or initials, so I went for a dateless plate.
i.e. no year letter.
Then I discovered NI plates - very cheap and cheerful - loads available on eBay - they all have an I or a Z in them. Prices start at under £20.
Perhaps of no use to you - but have a look - here's an example seller - no connection to me at all.

Go via DVLA - mine cost £250 about 10 years ago, and I don't think they've gone up in price. Other sites have to make a profit, and they get them from DVLA themselves anyway. In fact, you might be able to get the one you're looking for by going direct, as many 'middle men' don't buy the plate until someone buys it from them.No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0

Well spotted. It just shows you should always check the DVLA website before buying any plate. This eBayer is just adding his percentage and probably won't even buy it from the DVLA until you've paid your money to him.
Maybe I'll go into business doing this. No capital outlay and a very high mark up."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0
