They are yours to keep for as long as you keep using it or paying to keep it on retention.

Or until the DVLA decide to recall it.

So for the price stated on the ebay list, do i pay that yearly? Thats what i dont get. Do i pay to use it for so many years or would it become mine then?

    Thanks for the reply.

I can't see the link, but you pay for the right to use it on a vehicle (certain terms apply) . The fee listed should be a one off payment which should include the transfer fee, as the poster above says , if the plate is not kept retained (£25/year) or used on a suitable vehicle, then the DVLA take it back.

Drive with the spacing in the advert and you will be pulled at some point.

I also think they are stretching it a bit and in my view is way over priced.

Have you looked for one direct from dvla? Should be able to get something better and cheaper that way.

Just to add to the above, you have to pay a transfer fee, currently £80, each time you change your car and want to change it to the new car.

Just rechecked since the link was updated, those type of plates are usually £250 from the dvla, also note part of the T&Cs stipulate that the users is not to re-space the text (as per advert there) if the plate is abused they can retract it without chance of any refund, £399 plates are often single digit numeric eg MON3Y
