maybe slightly confused, but I did have a similar problem as the op, Barclaycard soon had my money back, my case was I sent something back and didn't get my refund from the seller, but I had proof of posting waited 14 days and nothing, contacted Barclaycard submited the claim and they got the money back
I was always under the impression that cc were in some way responsible for cases such as the ops, sorry for any confusing or misleading information0 -

Is chargeback to an extent a voluntary thing, as opposed to S75 which is statute?0

Call it whatever you want. It's a Visa/Mastercard internal rule/procedure, not a law. And it's an international rule, not a local law.0
