Advice made redundant with in a week

Hello all hoping for some advice and to know weather the following has been carried out correctly. this post is on behalf of my room mate.
She works/worked in a beauty shop as one of there therapist and have been working there just shy of 2 years I believe is a month from her 2 year mark.
Last week Wednesday she was informed that she would be at risk of redundancy. this was done by a letter that was given to her by her boss. on the last week Saturday she was called into a meeting where they would speck about about it. I don't know the full in's and out's of the meeting.
Then this week Thursday she was told that she was being made redundant and is no longer employed.
I have done some basic reading on the topic but nothing it depth yet. But going by the way things have happened and the time that it has happened it does not seem right. to be told and let go in a week seems funny.
as well as the last in first out sort of thing, as they have kept on a few people that joined after her. I don't if thing work different in that sort of area of work. When I went through it a few years ago it was not like that.
So I wonder if there is any thing she can do about this.
As far as im aware once you are informed of redundancy you have a 30 consolation. and from there a notice period where they either try to put you into another post or you leave at the end of the notice.
so any advice would be most grateful as I feel she should try and fight it as it if they are in the wrong.

I'm afraid that as she's been there less than two years they can just let her go without any reason - she doesn't qualify for redundancy.
She should have been given a weeks notice or paid in lieu though.
Rules on consultation only apply if there are a large number of people being made redundant0 -
Yes, as said, you are vulnerable in the first two years of a new job.
I was offered one recently where the probation period was the whole two years, with a month's notice. Compared with a probation period of three months in the one I went for. Either can get rid of me pretty easily in the first two years, so the first one was just rubbing it in (it felt like to me!)
One company where I worked would send the manager an email three months before the 2-year deadline (actually 1-year then), essentially saying "if you have any doubts about this person, this is your last chance to get rid of them easily".0 -
Wow, its a bit of a kick in the teeth. So there is no chance of reall doing any thing towards this.0

The dates are critical.
Start date.
Date she was given notice of termination.
Date she was actually terminated(should last day on the p45)
Contractual notice.
Also there are accrued holidays, need holiday year, holiday allowance, holidays taken.0
