Advice re royal mail lost item now found

Hi
Some time ago I posted an item to a customer, she said that she did not recieve it, I sent her a replacment and claimed the money off royal mail for lost post, they paid the full amount, today they sent me a parcel containing the lost items, it appears that the stamps had fallen off my packaging (i use plastic post bags, normally the post office uses a printed sticker, but on this occasion they applied lick down stamps) and the buyer had not claimed the post so they sent it to belfast sorting depot where all uncollected mail goes and they returned it to me, anyway, i am now in a predicament as i have the items back and have beenpaid for them by royal mail, should i send money back to royal mail or just keep quiet and sell the found items again on ebay?

Thanks
Jim

Depends how much you got paid out, if it was only a few quid im sure it wont matter too much to Royal Mail, however if its in the hundreds then maybe you should.

say thanks and run....unless anyone knows if it can be traced..... :j0

oh ok nalibz, morals and morals - I'd probably reluctantly agree.....depends on the value.....maybe.....0

Yeh i know its contradictory but the hassle isnt worth it for a few quid but then if its hundreds then maybe you should give it back. The problem is where to draw the line from a few quid to enough to give the money back0

Royal Mail do state on their website that if you subsequesntly find the item or it is delivered then they expect the money back if not you are committing an offence.
im not giving advice either way, but thought you might not be aware of this.

Divadee - Could we have a sticky of what ebay scams to look out for? or what to do if...? (royal mail lost item comes back for eg.)0

Thanks Divadee, did not know that, the refund was only for £4.00 but was worried that I should somehow give it back0

As your a honest person, (otherwise you would not have posted this question) I would say keep the £4 for your extra time and trouble0

Can't believe you asked that question
If the Post Office find out about it ( which will be never ) you can tell them you are keeping it as compensation for the time and trouble their non-sticky stamps have caused you ! :rolleyes:If only everything in life was as reliable...AS ME !!

Just buy £4 worth of stamps put them on your next parcel & they'll probably lose it so you'll be all square!!!!!!!What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!0
