This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning!
Can't believe I'm the first one up:rotfl:

Going to see Dad today. The home has a Spring Fair so I thought I'd better support it.

Went out with DD yesterday to get the food for DGD party tommorow. 24 children, most under 4:eek:

OH is doing well in New York. More contracts signed. (More money for me to spend!:rotfl:Not really, I couldn't if I tried!)

Yellow sticker Spaghetti and meatballs for dinner.

Enjoy the day all!:T

First day of hubby's holiday & he's going to work! He can't bear to leave a job half done.
I shall vacuum the stairs today & blitz the kitchen whilst he's at work.
I spoke to MIL y'day and she's been in for a biopsy & has to go for a CT scan, it looks like it's cancer & the bloody Dr fobbed her off for 9 months with antibiotics. Sickening isn't it.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning :hello:

Had a good money week – Eon reduced our DD and are refunding £89, and we took a load of junk to the scrap man and came away £57 richer :T :D

Broad beans are shooting up fast, I had to tie them up yesterday. The tomatoes, garlic and onions are doing well too.

We'll be cutting a tree down in our neighbour's garden in a few days :( She has a fab cherry tree but I have no idea why it was planted 8' from the house, I think fruit trees are meant to be at least 40' away? It's pretty much on the boundary in the front garden and is as tall as the house, the roots have cracked our drive in four different places. Not bothered about that really, we keep meaning to dig the ugly thing up and replace it. It's the house foundations I'm worried about. We get on well with her and weren't sure how to go about it in case she thought we were complaining but she was great about it. She rents from the HA and said she doesn't want to involve them, it'll probably register as a complaint (from us about her) and although we all know they have to do things properly, it'll turn into a big thing and probably involve H&S reports, lots of scaffolding and endless visits to make sure it's done properly :D So we're going to sort it out amongst ourselves. We're armed with a chainsaw and ready to cut :D We had a tree surgeon have a look, he said the roots of this particular tree will stop at the foundations and travel along them, rather than go through. But I'm not taking any chances.

Miss tru has had lots of extra hours at work :T She's having a lazy weekend, it'll involve lots of pizza in front of the telly :D Master tru has been super-busy, he's decided to relax by going carting :D Mr tru is working today and I'll be pottering around the garden and crocheting. My uncle is coming round later, the lintel above our front door is cracked right through  He's an expert in these things so is going to check it and give us action plan :D

ETA - I kept timing out, had three attempts at posting this and missed Hester's post.

Sorry to hear that Hester :( What is it with some doctors throwing around antibiotics for everything?

HH - That's shocking, hugs to you all.
hilstep - Glad OH is doing well. 24 children under 4? Good luck there, hope it's not at home.

Raining again (what a surprise), apparently it's going to clear up later. Yesterday started off as a beautiful day but got very showery by 10am but the washing did dry outside eventually.

Scaffolding down from the front of the house - they have put it back up at the side!! Roof looking good, I may have the best looking house in the road on the outside, the inside leaves a lot to be desired!!

Finished painting a chest of drawers yesterday and it looks quite good, certainly better than it did. Put all the handles back on the drawers and put the new runners in. As I put the drawers in I realised I had put the handles on upside down!!

Not sure what I am doing today, am thinking about going swimming, not been for a very long time. I will enjoy it if I go but I can always find something else to do!

Have a good weekend all, LW hope the migraine doesn't return.
Take care. XX

Morning from a very soggy part of Argyll. Been raining most of the night though the forecast is for sun in the early afternoon.

Today will again be spent emptying packing boxes and finding a home for things. The huge skip has now been filled with all the house renovation trash and my car is snug back in the barn.

Need to stock up the fridge and freezer tomorrow Will need to switch it on before I go out this morning.

Got a bit of a problem with lack of radio signal in the house and certainly in our bedroom. Thinking caps need to go on and solutions found, I enjoy a bit of 5Live at night when in bed.

This evening will be mostly watching trash telly and drinking fine wine!

Hope we hear news of JackieO soon, it's been almost a week now.

Happy Saturday everyone.

Morning all,

the quote "the best laid plans of mice and men often go astray" certainly applies to today. We were planning on having our Grandson for a couple of hours this morning but he's not very well and my daughter has been up all night with him.

Hubby is down the garden messing with the car. He fitted a tow bar on it a few weeks ago last night and this morning he has been wiring it.

Other plans for today. Just grocery shopping and maybe a trip to our nearest shopping centre.

Hope our friends Molly and JackieO are continuing to improve in their convalescence.

Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all.

Morning :hello:
Not been on for a couple of days, been busy busy! Been and caught up on the two days I missed though - and have subsequently forgotten what I was going to say from some of it, sorry!!
Thursday was busy doing paperwork, bit of cleaning, picked SIL up from work as her car was being re-sprayed on part and got some more wool. Me and OH then had a curry delivered for tea as a treat for such late nights and I watched the Boy in the stripped pjama's as he ended up having to fix something important on one of the lorries.
Friday I was busy cleaning one of the holiday cottages and then laid another one of them ready for guests that arrived last night. We had fish fingers, chips and beans for tea :D - we sound about 5 don't we :rotfl: but it was tasty and then we sat on the sofa and watched some trash telly and relaxed.
ANNNNNNNDDDD now to today, have 10 sets of wages to do, bacon sandwiches to collect for the men and then most of the house to clean + my ironing, I hate ironing!! I am also possibly going to meet some of my old school friends from lunch at 1pm, I don't know if I can defiantly fit it in, but I said I would try and get across even if just for a drink so will see how I go. There is only so much I can do:o
Me and OH are going to the local 'posh' pub for tea this evening, it's so fantastic and we haven't been for a while. Not a very old style week eating wise but we have had a hard week working wise so deserve a treat now and again.
Hester - that's terrible!! Some DR's just don't seem to take cancer in to consideration these days, such a shame!!!

Well wishes to Molly & JackieO!!

Time to crack on with my list of jobs.
Have a good saturday everyone :j

Hi everyone,

Hester, that doesn't surprise me. My MiL was put on a drug by a specialist, no follow up, just repeat prescriptions from GP. After 3 years she started going to GP saying she was suffering from the side effects warned about in the leaflets with the drug but was pooh poohed. After 4 more years and several more visits she was finally referred to a specialist who told her the drug was so toxic no-one should take it for longer than 1 year. It had destroyed her lungs and on her death cert it says she died from ***** poisoning. I still feel very bitter about it, she would still be here I'm sure if it wasn't for that.

Anyway, today DH is helping DS finish off the woodwork in their front room. I want to make a couple of cakes but that's about it. I need to speak to DD, I haven't since Wednesday and as we usually speak almost every day I am suffering from withdrawal symptoms.

Have a good day.
