Lost 3 sim card - can I go to a store for replacement?
Hey everyone,
I'm due to take over a friend's contract now she has left the UK, and I've clumsily managed to lose the sim card which I'm absolutely certain is in the room, but is nowhere to be seen.
Anyway, is it possible for me to go to a 3UK shop and get it replaced, or do I have to phone them?
Also, can they just block the sim, or is the phone at risk of being blocked too? If it does get blocked, will that make a difference to her now she's moved abroad with it?
Cheers
Chris

So this is a contract that is in your friend's name, that you want to report lost and get replaced, possibly by sending to you at your address, rather than to your friend at the address on the contract? I think you will have a lot of trouble convincing the customer services people that this is legit.0

Until you take over the contract, they will not deal with you. You'll need to be credit checked and your pal agree (on the phone) to you being nominated to take over the remainder. Only when this is complete will you gave an ability to do anything.
Better to get your friend to arrange things.0 -
Sorry I should have been more clear.
This contract is mines, the phone was for her, the sim card is lost, the phone is not stolen, she has taken it with her when she moved abroad.
The contract is in my name, with my bank details, billing address and so on so forth.0 -
So why did you tell us it was her contract?0

So you had a contract which included a phone, and you have given the phone to a friend and kept the sim to use yourself, but you have now lost the sim? If you tell them that you had the sim out of the phone and lost it, but you haven't lost the phone itself, I can't see why they would block the phone. I don't know if they would deal with it in store (but just guessing, I'd expect they would tell you to phone customer services - you'd need to do all the security questions etc before they started sending out replacement sim cards).0

Similar thing happened to me before and I just phoned to have the SIM suspended while I try to find the SIM. The phone itself was not blocked. Mind there is a charge if you want a replacement SIM...Mark Hughes' blue and white army0
