Sorry, but I really do not wish to share the sight and sound of body fluids being exchanged when I go to a public place to eat.
No, you're not 'sorry'.
I would find it far more acceptable to have a Mum breastfeeding her baby next to me than a couple playing tonsil hockey and exchanging bodily fluids.0 -
It looks to me as though whoever from M&S responded diidn't actually know any of the facts at all and gave a 'stock response'. It would have been better just to apologise and say they were investigating.'Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.' George Carlin0

I highly doubt that if the mother had expressed the milk into a bottle you would find it offensive to see.. so don't pretend that its because it's a bodily fluid that's the issue.0 -
I would rather not have to see, hear, smell any of them whilst having my lunch.
If you can hear and smell a baby best feeding you're sitting far too close, the mother doesn't need you and her baby on her lap. As for seeing, just turn your chair a little, problem solved.
I bet you're the kind of person that finds severely disabled children offensive too and wouldn't want to eat near one.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

I hate the sounds other people make when they're eating. Really, really hate them, it's like it goes right through my skull - a bit like nails on a chalkboard in fact!
But that's why I tend to only eat out in places that have well-spaced tables, or when it's fairly empty. Or I put up with it. Because, you know, that's what being in public is all about - putting up with the things you don't like, politely, in full knowledge that all the other people around you are also putting up with you.
I think it's pretty poor of M&S to ask a woman to feed her baby in the toilets. They wouldn't ask someone with noisy, messy toddlers to do the same would they? And to some people (hello!) the sight/sound of a toddler covered in orange tomato sauce with pasta in their hair is way more disturbing and gross than breastfeeding could ever be:coffee:Coffee +3 Dexterity +3 Willpower -1 Ability to Sleep
