I asked why they did this. Its because they want to sell more room nights.....2 or 3 nights obviously better than 1.
Huh? How's that then? You end up selling less room nights because you are telling punters all over the country that the hotel is full when its not.
No, you're only dscouraging people who want to stay only one night.
I 'll bet that the night you wanted to stay was a Saturday, was it not ?
By discouraging people from only booking the Saturday night it means that the hotel can market themselves to get people in for an entire 'leisure weekend' and avoid having a nearly empty hotel on a Sunday night, which is traditionally the quietest night of the week. They don't want to have to turn people away who are looking to book an entire long weekend just because the don't have availabilty on one (Saturday) night.
I've often seen this approach , particularly in the more touristy locations and city centre hotels.0

Nope. Wednesday usually requires a two night booking, and Monday this week required a three night booking.illegitimi non carborundum0

where? honestly, this is the first i've heard of premier inn doing this.
I've booked midweek one-nighters and the occasional Sunday night at Premier Inns in Inverness, Carlisle, Luton (more than once) and most recently Gravesend - and was able with no problem to book the one night I needed?0

Most hotels do this, it makes perfect sense for them to manage their occupancy in high demand periods....they would rather have 3 nights stayers than a one night, and they have sophisticated software to predict booking demand and cancels etc.0

I find the beds too hard. No probs booking single nights.0

Customer service is excellent, if you find the bed too hard, ask for an extra quilt, and sleep on it.
Cant praise them highly enough, especially at Newcastle Quayside on any night of the week. It is right next door to a Slug and Lettuce with half price food all day Monday, brilliant breakfasts for around £3..... including tea and coffee, overlooking the Tyne, just pure bliss.....make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0

I get the theory. But instead of selling the room to a relatively late one nighter, they run the risk of it going unsold. Most hotels do this, it makes perfect sense for them to manage their occupancy in high demand periods....they would rather have 3 nights stayers than a one night, and they have sophisticated software to predict booking demand and cancels etc.illegitimi non carborundum0
