Hey, excellent news. I went to my HSBC mortgage, which is now at a standard variable rate, and there's no op button there for me. Maybe it's only for fixes. No easy way to send an additional payment to it either.
But I went from having a 6 figure mortgage to a five figure one a couple of days back, so that's cool!* * * Catriona's Credit Card Countdown * * * from -£16k to debt neutraldom - for my debt diary click here

Hi Catriona,
The button lets me know how much is in my allowance to OP. To make the transfer I go to my current acc and click on the link that lets me move money between my accounts. On the list I select mortgage account as opposed to ISA or other savings acc and it does the rest. Previously when I tried to OP in this way I got an error message.
Do you have another acc with them or just the mortgage one?

Hi,
It's really good.........................0 -
Aaaah I see what you're saying. I shall try that. I have a joint acc with HSBC, but that is being used by my ex, although I am still on it, in name only. I'll see if that works.
But I'm moving my mortgage to nationwide, who will charge me 1.69% instead of the 2.49% apr HSBC are currently charging me. This will save just over £40 a month in interest. Can think of better ways to spend £40, what do you think?!
So, I may not need to do this really, I'll probably have to work it out from N/wide's c/a.
So good to see the mortgage in 5 figures now! All good:) isn't it funny how psychologically those milestones are really helpful?* * * Catriona's Credit Card Countdown * * * from -£16k to debt neutraldom - for my debt diary click here

The difference between 6 & 5 figures is huge, well done on that. :T
I have been having a busy weekend, but it included a day of paid work, so its not all bad. These extra bits and bobs really do add up.
Also been thinking whether I should pay down more seriously now that I have a much bigger OP facility. I dont think I could manage paying 9K in 2 and half months, but then again I do like a challenge. :rotfl:

Hey MG,
Will go into ultra tight mode for a few weeks and see what I can come up with OP wise.
Not quite sure how I would come up with the full 9K in such a short period. While putting a stocking over my head may well be an improvement on my usual appearance, it is an investment strategy that's rather more high risk than I would be comfortable with:rotfl::rotfl:

Evening friends,
Still busy supplementing my income with additional work.
Have made use of my new button and my mortgage is now £1500 lighter. This was taken from the emergency fund account, but I still have plenty if something crops up. Intend to OP whatever is left over in my current account come payday - as I figure I dont "need" this extra money to live off.

This evening I changed over to the thicker duvet, as it is getting noticeable colder at night. Has everyone else put their heating on yet or are we all still holding out?
