Just for completeness, it's a big risk and not comparable to a cash ISARemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
I'm thinking of opening a help-to-buy ISA.
I have no idea if I will want to buy a house in a year's time, or even in the coming years after then. Is it possible to put money into the ISA and still take advantage of the government bonus if it's years later than I bought a house?
I've already got an ISA that I need to transfer and I may like to use my full allowance for a normal ISA in the current tax year. Is this possible with the restrictions on a HTB ISA?0 -
Both your Qs are answered in the MSE HTB Guide.0

Can anyone help? I am trying to transfer my Post Office ISA to a new provider, but when the new provider’s online form asks for the name of my existing bank, it won’t accept “Post Office” – or anything containing those words – nor is Post Office on its list of providers.
I’ve tried messaging PO asking what I should put instead – their answer: “Post Office Savings”! I’ve tried telling them repeatedly that it won’t accept the words “Post Office.” Has anyone else experienced this? In the PO small print it says something about their ISAs being provided by Bank of Ireland – could I put that down?0 -
Is Bank of Ireland (UK) plc on their list of providers? As you say, they are the institution that actually provides the services badged as Post Office financial services, but obviously the new provider needs to be able to find where the existing funds are to enact the transfer so you may be best asking them directly....0

Post office (also AA creditcards) are associated with bank of Ireland. There are already a lof ot evidence regarding their bad customers services and might be incompetencies.

Thanks for the info. Is it worth me typing in Bank of Ireland then as my provider? I may have to ring my new provider and ask what I should do.0

Finally got a sensible reply out of Post Office. They told me to put in Family Equity Plan as the name of my current provider, and fingers crossed that appears to have worked.
I would never have known that had I not asked the question, though.
