Can anyone help me out with my wedding budget?

  • If you are able to get to Leicester I would highly recommend the wedding dress outlet (if you Google it – its on Coventry Road I think). I was ready to get my dress from China for budget reasons! I went to the outlet on Saturday and walked out with my gorgeous dress. All the dresses are between £150 and £500 majority of them being £400. I chose lots of dresses to try on from hundreds of dresses and the service was brilliant. J

I wouldn't go with these people just for the pure cheek !! (I don't even think I contacted them about their 'free venue' I think it was just a general enquiry)

I really think costs should be black and white and fair enough to say it's been reduced or do a package deal but if you say a hire is free then it should be free...I could even understand if they said free if you used their catering but meh..

The 'Free Venue Hire' offer gives you the use of Shottle Hall or The Coach House Marquee located at Shottle Hall for free in 2014. The following Terms will be applied:

    - If booking Shottle Hall, all bedrooms must be booked at the group rate of £995+VAT
    - Civil Ceremonies bookings with Shottle Hall or The Coach House Marquee will be charged at the standard rate of £350+VAT

    - When booking either Shottle Hall or The Coach House Marquee, there will be an Equipment Hire Charge of £180+VAT. This includes banqueting tables and chairs, crockery, cutlery, table linen, napkins and dancefloor.

-Minimum numbers must be 50 with the standard food and drinks package

Gosh it really is getting to me that people are not getting back to me :( I know they are busy but we've expressed great interest in the first one that came back to high ~ and still waiting for a re quote from last week. (I can understand the first one taking a bit to get to use but the re quote is basically taking some stuff off and adding some wine in nothing that would take more then 10 min) ~ she emailed me Monday to tell me she was going to do it today (today as in Monday)

We went to see a place ages ago which is probably our 2nd choice but this was early March, sent him a menu at end of March and he has got back to me today to say that he has just looked and someone has booked June 6th 2014.... yes but we want 2015 ;) I have said this enough times I even under line 2015 in my emails now as everyone was getting mixed up lol...he said to get back to me before Friday so lets see...still no quote haha.

The place I said just above that I was excited about is realistically out of our price range but going to see it on Thursday anyway might as well keep our options open and you never know perhaps we can cut something off and save money.

Just had an e-mail yesterday about something we sent a menu to about two weeks ago but she will do a quote for me very soon...but still no quote.

I am just in the mindset of being fed up that if even one of these places come back to me and offer me a decent quote and a decent place I would just sign the dotted line..... :D

ETA: and to make matters slightly worse I read some reviews last night of the place we are waiting for a re quote (nothing about wedding receptions unf :/ ) and their are quite a few bad reviews saying really nice decor, great staff but the food is awful.. even some of the average reviews are saying the food wasn't great but they had a lovely evening and the staff were great, so not filled with confidence even stuff like they ran short of roast potatoes so they have them all one each and added chips to the table with a roast dinner lol but...it is a really nice place.
