I'm thinking of going to the local community center, I've found a caterer that isnt OTT for sit down and we could even do our own buffet for the evening? Got to be cheaper then the £700ish people charge for it.
Bet its bookedPeople don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
God I just give up with it all lol. Just went back to look at my reasonable caterer I found and they are charging £25 a head (which is fine if we wasn't paying much for the room / buffet) and then I read the bit after it and app that is just the food cost...they charge extra for staffing, equipment set up...etc etcPeople don't know what they want until you show them.0

No need for rude posts, I was merely trying to be helpful! If flowers were important to OP surely she would have stated initially? Hence why I suggested discussing a cost cutting thing with her florist - as I have done. My florist actually suggested a way of cutting corners with cheaper flower alternatives. She also questioned whether I really needed 2 pedestals. So I don't think my suggestion was at all bad.

I think the thing with weddings, is we all have different things which matter to us - some people think that flowers are the most important thing at a wedding, and some people aren't even having flowers.
If you want to get your budget down - work out what is ACTUALLY important to you, and what isn't, and then cut corners on the stuff that isn't.Officially saved enough to cover the cost of our wedding! :A0 -

Not sure if I am missing something here I don't know whos been rude to who!
No they aren't top of my list by far...my MIL asked me what I wanted for flowers and I said no idea and she later commented back to OH who doesn't know what type of flowers they want for the wedding? (shock horror for her lol)
I saw some nice ones on facebook though don't think they are real and have all beads etc and are like 20-30 for the bride and then some smaller ones...nice little flower wands for the flower girls. Very pretty do have my heart set on them reckon for £100-£120 I can get everything their....
This all has gone to pot now I have asked them for a 'revamp' of the £2700 quoted with a few less things in it hopfully it will come back under £2,500 - I've then gone back to somewhere we visited and asked him for a sit down quote on the basis we do our own evening catering.
As for the hall - the bar won't open till 7pm for some reason and we aren't allowed to take alcohol in with us (or drinks) so that is out the window.
Not sure their is anywhere else I can think of right now to consider...I will be so much happier when the venue is in place.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Piglet was rude to krustylouise
I actually agree, it was a pretty rude post!

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I just don't get sarcasm I thought she was being serious about the cake....I thought the gazbo was a good idea!!!People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
Ah that Kipling cake looks amazing!!!
With the photo booth... Do you or anyone close to you have an iPad that you could use - there are some photobooth apps that could work well and I have heard of other using this in the past, by putting it on a stand and securing it in place. Then transfer the photos afterwards, or upload them to a photo print website and get good deals printing them out, and send with thank you cards.
With the dress - have you looked for a second hand one of what you want. This is what I did, and got it for £500 cheaper. Mine hadn't even been worn and still had the tags attached - the person I bought it from had cancelled her wedding and wanted rid. I think I found it on sellmyweddingdress.co.uk or something similar. Preloved and eBay are great places too.
Matalan were selling men's morning suits - they have reduced them, the jackets are £11 (although very limited sizes online, could possibly try calling stores to check for stock?) http://www.matalan.co.uk/mens/collections/wedding-and-occasion/s2513779/wedding-morning-suit-jacket
Try going to local wedding fairs, they often have competitions to win different things, and check out local Facebook pages - we won our wedding cake through a Facebook competition. We were going to get one from M&S and I had saved about £150 in vouchers from surveys and getting Sky so I then used them to buy my underwear and DH's shoes.
Try getting involved with survey websites if you can, although it can take time I managed to get about £30 towards the men's suits (we hired from Moss and I had Capital bonds from survey sites) and the M&S vouchers we had.
I got most of my bridesmaid dresses 2nd hand, from eBay and wedding selling sites. They were BHS dresses, and they always have offers on!
We used Vistaprint for all our invites, thank you cards etc. I made sure I got them when there were offers on and also went through Topcashback for one order. I also got a lot of the thank you gifts from here - mugs, pens and canvas bags for the girls.MFW 2016 #32 £1574.66/£1500:j:j0 -
I actually think that picture looks great, just arrange them a bit more neatly, get proper bride and groom figures0

You have every right to be unsure! "Qualifications" are totally irrelevant where wedding photography is concerned. They do not mean a thing. Nada. Zilch.
What you need is somebody who's shot weddings on their own before and has not screwed up.
(The above opinion based on photographing 400+ weddings professionally)We're all doomed0
